Centauri 1706 is the planar headphone in the Spirit range. The power unit, based on Spirit specifications and equipped with powerful N52 neodymium magnets arranged on both sides of the diaphragm to ensure symmetrical movement, actually guarantees performance comparable to our best dynamic designs. The driver support plate is lightweight but very rigid, so it does not deform under the dynamic load of the powerful speaker. Finally, the frame has high structural rigidity, allowing the power unit to integrate into the headphone, resulting in a compact and rigid structure.
Centauri 1706 is characterized by an excellent soundstage in terms of size and realism, as well as deep bass that makes listening fun, engaging, and full of pathos. At the same time, the headphone, endowed with timbral rigor, is also recommended for professional recording applications.
Centauri 1706 ensures maximum comfort thanks to the rigid headband equipped with a weight distribution and relief system. Finally, the detachable cable, provided with a choice of all the main connectors at the base price, and the compatibility with small-sized devices, offers effective portability without sacrificing quality wiring. The headphone is sold with an optional external Bluetooth module.
Centauri 1706 is designed on an inertial frame made of solid walnut wood. This material, with its compactness and rigidity characteristics, improves the dynamic performance of planar technology, which by its nature has a diaphragm with limited movement. The driver is "organically" mounted in its wooden support, a living material that moves over time and almost comes into harmony with the headphone's motor.
Furthermore, the driver support is organized to couple with the Ventilation Pad System and the pressure compensation holes, freeing the headphone from the traditional imbalances of planar technology (cavern effect), of which the Centauri 1706 captures only the positive aspects with a grandiose final effect when listening.
The pads, developed based on the Spirit design by industry leader Dekoni, are covered in fine leather and Alcantara for the part that rests on the ear, as with all Spirit designs. Being a large headphone, the ventilation system is inserted through an expansion trumpet towards the outside instead of the traditional ventilation holes. The pad is wide (suitable for all head sizes) and creates a listening chamber capable of generating an impressive soundstage.
The latest innovation is the attachment system using magnets, which allows for very simple maintenance and replacement.
Centauri 1706 is equipped with a stainless steel headband and a relief band, which create a system of forces that adapt the headband to the head, distribute the load, and manage the correct pressure on the ears. At the same time, the sliding rod release system guarantees freedom of movement and the ability to adjust the sliding mechanism. The result is exceptional comfort, and despite its imposing size, the headphone is suitable for long listening sessions.
Even the headband does not yield to Italian style – the headband lined in the finest green leather and the two-tone relief band come out of the workshops of master leatherworkers in Naples, as with all Spirit headphones.
The headphones are equipped with a detachable cable manufactured by Portento Audio based on a Spirit design, featuring a dual-section structure that guarantees excellent performance even with portable devices. The headphones can also be equipped with an external Bluetooth device, increasing portability and ease of use in any context.
