The compact two-way wireless speaker B&W Formation Flex is part of the Formation series, known for their exotic design and premium sound quality. The speaker features a slightly convex cylindrical housing with a frame structure made of inert composite material, covered in acoustically transparent fabric.
The model is equipped with a 25-millimeter tweeter (similar to the high-frequency drivers of the 600 series speakers) which has a dual dome membrane and is vibrationally isolated from the housing, resulting in high-quality high-frequency transmission. The mid-range and bass are handled by a 100-millimeter midwoofer with a lightweight stiff fiberglass cone. Each driver is connected to a separate built-in amplifier with 50 watts of power. The signal processing is done by a fast signal processor, and fine tuning of the sound is achieved using the Dynamic EQ dynamic equalizer.
The B&W Formation Flex model has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules on board, supporting aptX HD, AAC, and SBC codecs, with aptX HD allowing for wireless audio playback closest to high-resolution audio formats. AirPlay and AirPlay 2 protocols are available for interacting with Apple devices. The speaker easily integrates into the proprietary wireless network with a cellular structure using Formation technology, which is not dependent on Wi-Fi networks.
In such a network, Formation components "communicate" with each other using constantly synchronizing transceiver receivers. This guarantees perfect synergy and minimal delays for all Formation speakers (mismatch does not exceed one microsecond), as well as the ability to transmit signals in 24-bit/96 kHz quality.
Two B&W Formation Flex models can be paired together to create a stereo pair or used as rear speakers in a 5.1-channel home theater system, including a 3-channel soundbar and a Formation subwoofer.
