Teenage Engineering EP-1320 Medieval is a portable sampler and groovebox with a library of medieval sounds, a sequencer, and a built-in microphone. The device comes loaded with sounds of strings, percussion, and other sources, ready to play right out of the box. This makes it a standalone workstation for creating compositions, rhythmic patterns, and performances without the need for external content.
The sound engine operates at 46 kHz / 16-bit quality and uses hi-fi sampler architecture. With 128 MB of memory, 96 MB dedicated to internal sounds and 32 MB for user samples, the device supports up to 6 stereo voices or 12 mono voices for layered patterns or individual parts and loops. The device also features a 32-bit internal signal processing.
The EP-1320 Medieval is designed for immediate performance. It includes pressure-sensitive pads with poly aftertouch, a versatile assignable fader, and group pads. The fader can be assigned to parameters and recorded in the sequencer for live manipulation and automation. The device supports punch-in effects, controlled from the pads, and loop mode for real-time sound and pattern changes.
The built-in sequencer allows for composition work with multiple groups and patterns. The device can store 9 user projects and 9 demo compositions, each project containing 4 groups with up to 99 patterns each. Patterns can have lengths from 1 to 99 steps with 12 tracks for samples and MIDI. The device supports up to 80,000 notes in a project and can assign separate MIDI channels to each pad for external instrument control.
Built-in effects include send effects, a master compressor, and punch-in effects for live performance. Sampling can be done through the built-in microphone or line input. The device features stereo input/output, sync in/out, MIDI in/out, and USB-C connectivity for use with DAWs and external devices. Power can be provided by AAA batteries or via USB-C for mobile use.
