The SR-009S is the latest attempt by the Japanese company Stax to create the best headphones in the world. Thanks to the updated drivers, earpads, and other design elements, this is a definite step forward while still preserving most of the original appearance and character. Compared to the original model, these headphones have improved bass response and tamed high-frequency peaks.
The multi-layered MLER electrode, developed for the SR-009 model, has been refined and improved to the MLER2 version. Through finishing and etching processes, the edges of the electrode openings have been smoothed, reducing air resistance and resulting in improved sound permeability. Additionally, the electrodes themselves have been gold-plated with high specific mass to minimize resonances. At the same time, by reducing the electrical resistance of the electrode with gold plating, STAX engineers have achieved an increase in speed, clarity, detail, and powerful, textured sound.
The membrane, like in the first version of the model, is made of an ultra-thin film manufactured from the latest high-molecular-weight polymer - a multi-layered structural plastic. It is much stronger and thinner than conventional structural plastic. The use of the best materials has allowed for excellent frequency response across the entire frequency range.
Almost every detail in the SR-009S headphones is the result of high-precision machining. The housing is machined from aluminum, which traditionally provides excellent characteristics for audio equipment: high sound quality, durability, and lightweight. The cable is made of high-purity 99.9999% copper with an additional silver coating - the best solution for signal transmission from the amplifier to the headphones.
The earpads of the headphones (or the headband, as STAX themselves call them) are handmade by skilled craftsmen using the best materials - natural and synthetic leather with different properties for different parts of the product.
