The PMC twin cabinet model combines the mid-frequency full-range monitor PMC8-2 with the PMC8-2 SUB subwoofer, forming an ideally integrated speaker system with the subwoofer. Similarly to the more compact active XBD systems, the PMC8-2 XBD configuration provides an impressive level of low frequencies by 6 dB higher than the main speaker alone.
The XBD configuration offers superior monitoring quality with a sense of limitless headroom and instant intuitive attack. However, these qualities are not dependent on volume; there is no need to control it at high levels, as the full dynamic range and bass depth remain consistent at all listening levels - from dance to full-scale orchestral material. The XBD format delivers excellent full-range monitoring quality effortlessly in both small and larger studios.
In the XBD configuration, the input audio signal is connected to the PMC8-2 monitor and then transmitted to the subwoofer through a digital pass-through output. In XBD mode, high-precision DSP modules in each cabinet ensure perfect acoustic matching between the two devices, creating stunning performance with further enhancements possible through the intuitive web-based SoundAlign interface.
As with any other PMC monitors, due to excellent dispersion and tonal balance, the PMC8-2 can be seamlessly combined with smaller PMC monitors to create larger multi-channel or immersive systems.
Two low-frequency drivers work together with the same mid-frequency tweeter PMC55, a DSP system, and four channels of 400W D-class amplification used in the PMC6-2. The monitor can be adjusted directly from the rear panel or using the browser-based SoundAlign software on a computer or tablet.
With a precisely tuned ATL cabinet and hexagonal Laminair ventilation ports, the PMC8-2 delivers phenomenal performance close to our flagship monitors, with smooth and steady bass down to 25 Hz, impressive mid-range, and a wide range of stable sound.
