Description

(The Rest Of) New Order is a special remix release by the British band New Order, originally issued in 1995 as a companion to the compilation *The Best Of New Order*. While the primary compilation showcased the band’s hits in their most well-known versions, The Rest Of New Order transports them into the realm of club electronica, offering extended, intricately reworked mixes by prominent DJs and producers of the 1990s. The tracklist features names such as Hardfloor, Shep Pettibone, Armand Van Helden, K-Klass, Howie B., Dave Clarke, and CJ Bolland—each of whom reinterpreted New Order’s signature sound in their own unique way.

A standout track is the "Hardfloor Mix" of "Blue Monday," a version of the legendary song that gives its recognizable synth foundation a harder, club-oriented edge. Equally compelling are the "Armand Van Helden Mix" of "Bizarre Love Triangle," the "Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix" of "Confusion," and the "Shep Pettibone Remix" of "True Faith"—familiar compositions transformed into full-length club tracks designed for the dance floor. Throughout these, New Order’s characteristic melodies, synthesizers, and vocals remain front and center.

This contemporary vinyl edition brings together all 12 tracks from the original CD and vinyl release for the first time in a comprehensive 3LP format. The audio has been remastered and prepared for vinyl, with lacquers cut at Abbey Road Studios; the standard edition is pressed on 140-gram black vinyl. This format is particularly appealing to New Order collectors and fans of electronic music, as the three-disc set allows for the inclusion of these extended remixes without the need for significant editing or truncation.

Visually, the release continues New Order’s signature tradition of minimalist design: the understated cover, featuring striking abstract graphics, has become an integral part of the band’s history. The Rest Of New Order is a notable record for those who wish to hear familiar New Order tracks in extended club-oriented interpretations and experience the atmosphere of the mid-1990s dance scene. The Best Of New Order is particularly compelling, as it brings together time-tested hits, single versions, and updated takes on various tracks—all while preserving the energy and spirit of the era.
