When creating the Astru in-ear headphones, Meze Audio aimed to develop a wired single-driver model capable of achieving the complexity of sound, stereo image, and resolution usually seen in solutions with multiple drivers.
The main technological pride of the model is the high-performance 10-millimeter dynamic driver. Its multilayer composite membrane has a unique dome architecture: 80 ultra-thin layers of gold are sprayed onto a PEEK polymer base using vacuum deposition over 48 hours, with a titanium coating on top. This solution allowed engineers to achieve exceptional control of resonances, an unmatched response speed compared to conventional drivers, and maintain the warmth of analog sound. The headphones have a soft V-shaped tuning with tight, defined bass, clean, detailed mids, and extended but non-fatiguing highs.
The headphones' housing is completely CNC-machined from a solid block of pure titanium, ensuring exemplary durability and scratch resistance. The elegant satin finish and anatomical shape provide an ideal fit, making the headphones securely sit in the ear canal without causing discomfort for hours. An acoustic filter inside the sound tube is protected by a precision nickel-plated mesh guard, preventing clogging.
The model comes with a premium 1.2-meter-long dual-core balanced cable made of silver-plated oxygen-free copper (LC-OFC) with a soft SoftFlex PVC protective sheath. The cable connects to the headphones via reliable 2-pin connectors (2-pin 0.78 mm) and features a gold-plated 4.4 mm Pentaconn balanced plug. With a low impedance of 32 ohms and excellent sensitivity of 111 dB, the headphones easily unleash their potential with top portable players (DAP), as well as with stationary audio systems or high-quality mobile DAC-amplifiers.
