The Mackie CR8BT is a pair of multimedia monitors belonging to the third generation of the CR (Creative Reference) series, which is ideal for both home and professional use. This speaker system works well for listening, music production, watching movies and playing video games, as well as editing audio tracks for video editing. The CR8BT model is the most powerful in the series and is suitable for medium to large rooms.
The monitors are equipped with 8-inch woven woofers and 1-inch silk dome tweeters that produce audio signals in the range of 47 Hz to 20 kHz with a -3 dB level. The crossover frequency is at 2 kHz. The tweeters are protected by steel grilles. The built-in Class D amplifier in one of the speakers delivers a total output power of 140 watts per pair. The maximum sound pressure level reaches 108 dB.
The Tone knob provides versatility by producing a "dry" and monitor sound on the extreme left position, suitable for professional work. On the extreme right, the sound is rich in low and high frequencies, which works great for music listening. The Desktop/Bookshelf switch optimizes the directionality for placing the monitors on a desk or shelf. There is also an L/R switch for changing the position of the speakers.
The connectivity options include balanced inputs on 1/4'' Jack TRS connectors and unbalanced inputs on RCA and 1/8'' Jack TRS connectors. There is a Bluetooth receiver for wirelessly streaming audio from a smartphone. Finally, there is a headphone output on a standard 1/8'' Jack TRS connector.
The speaker cabinets are made of MDF with black vinyl coating. The expansion of the lower frequency range is achieved by the rear-firing port tubes. The speakers are powered by mains. The package includes 1/8'' Jack TRS to 2RCA and 1/8'' Jack TRS to 1/8'' Jack TRS cables, a speaker connection cable, and vibration isolation pads for each speaker.
