The FiiO FD5 is a model of dynamic headphones with an exquisite 316 stainless steel housing and a 12mm moving coil with beryllium diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating.
New 12mm Flagship Dynamic Driver
The FD5 features a specially designed large 12mm driver with an N52 magnet that has a magnetic field intensity of 1.5 Tesla, providing powerful bass sound and crystal-clear high frequencies.
Diamond-like Carbon Diaphragm with Beryllium Coating
Extensive research and experimentation were conducted by the manufacturers in choosing materials for the new dynamic driver. By combining beryllium and diamond-like carbon (DLC), the developers took into account the physical properties of material stiffness and flexibility, which allowed them to suppress unwanted vibrations and achieve the best sound quality - balanced frequency response, and minimal distortion in all frequency ranges.
FD5 Diaphragm
Thanks to the use of a rigid material, the diaphragm is more sensitive to the movements of the sound coil, reducing distortion and providing more precise sound reproduction. Other diaphragms: Materials with low stiffness respond slower to the movements of the sound coil and produce irregular wave-like motions, causing distortion.
Special Hi-End Design with Acoustic Prism
To address the issues related to time delay between different sound waves, the FD5 features an acoustic prism system. Specialists were inspired by a similar technology used to tune tweeters in well-known hi-end audio products. By placing a conical device next to the front end of the diaphragm, it is possible to precisely control how sound waves propagate in the sound tube, resulting in advantages such as the elimination of high-frequency standing waves and improved overall sound wave dispersion.
