By combining the most advanced and innovative speaker technology, the 801 D5 provides the purest sound in the world. The diamond dome tweeter raises the breakup frequency to 70 kHz, ensuring exceptional clarity, accuracy, and openness.
One-piece cabinet.
The latest incarnation of the iconic one-piece tweeter assembly on the top has an elongated form with a longer tube loading system and a completely new tweeter grille design optimized for even freer and more open high-frequency sound. The carefully isolated cabinet, as before, is made from a single block of aluminum to better resist resonance.
Continuum cone.
Thanks to its composite Continuum construction, the Continuum cone avoids sharp changes in behavior that can degrade the performance of the driver. As a result, it produces a more open, neutral sound that provides accuracy and transparency in the sound of voices and instruments.
Turbine head.
Listen to the sound, not the cabinet. The signature turbine head, made from a solid aluminum block, provides a phenomenally rigid and inert cabinet for the critical midrange driver, carefully damped to prevent unwanted resonances and isolated from both the low-frequency driver cabinet and the tweeter cabinet. The result? The most realistic midrange sound available today.

Each floor-standing loudspeaker in the Diamond 800 Series is equipped with a special mid-range driver that incorporates four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: the Continuum cone, FST, biomimetic suspension, and mid-range decoupling, ensuring minimal interference from the operation of the speaker's bass drivers.
Biomimetic suspension.
Sometimes, unconventional thinking is required for significant change. For decades, engineers believed that nothing could improve the sound of the famous yellow aramid fiber mid-range cones, but ultimately, the Continuum technology changed that. Engineers have now turned their attention to another key element of the speaker cone - the fabric "spider." Biomimetic suspension revolutionizes the characteristics of the mid-range cone, significantly reducing unwanted air pressure and coloring that a typical fabric spider can create. The result? Midrange transparency you wouldn't believe is possible.
Enhanced Matrix technology.
The Matrix bracing uses interconnected panels to reinforce the internal walls of the loudspeaker cabinets in all directions, reducing resonance and creating a more believable soundstage. Each new Diamond Series 800 model features an enhanced matrix design that combines a robust plywood construction with aluminum bracing to reinforce key load points.
Reverse aerodynamic cabinet.
Unlike flat speakers with a curved back, the Diamond 800 Series cabinets feature a single continuous curve fixed to a sturdy aluminum stand. Fewer joints provide a more rigid and inert construction, while the curved front panel reduces interference around the drive units, improving sound dispersion and reducing cabinet reflections.
Spatial frame mounting.
As an additional enhancement to the extremely rigid Diamond 800 Series cabinets, the new D5 models feature aluminum guides on the back of each cabinet for spatial frame mounting. These highly rigid structures further protect the cabinet from unwanted mechanical vibrations, creating an even more spacious and immersive soundstage.
Upgraded plinth with adjustable mass damping.
The aluminum plinths of all Diamond Series 800 floor-standing speakers are equipped with a limited-layer damping system and mass-adjustable dampers, individually optimized for the mechanical resonances of each individual driver. This reduces unwanted cabinet coloration and ensures cleaner low-frequency output.
Modernized crossover.
The Diamond 800 Series features modernized crossovers mounted on rigid aluminum spikes. This isolates sensitive capacitors from unwanted air pressure effects inside the cabinet and creates a highly efficient radiator for optimal performance.
