The SSL PureDrive Quad utilizes the highly acclaimed PureDrive microphone preamps from the SSL Origin console and presents them in a 4-channel rack-mountable device for 2 RU, equipped with advanced conversion and flexible digital connections including ADAT, AES, and USB, making it an ideal addition to many studio mixing consoles for live sound mixing, or mobile recording setups.
It features four combined XLR/TRS microphone/line inputs and four Hi-Z inputs on the front panel. Additionally, the DB25 connector provides line inputs and return inserts for each channel. The front panel controls are easily accessible. Each microphone is equipped with an 11-step coarse gain adjustment as well as a 31-step volume control with +/-15 dB gain with 1 dB steps. This allows for easy signal amplification using the gain control, then reducing it to the appropriate level with Trim. Each channel has an adjustable 31-step high-pass filter with an 18 dB per octave frequency that peaks at 300 Hz.
The PureDrive Quad offers four options for the microphone preamp input impedance, allowing engineers to precisely match the preamp impedance to the microphone or even alter the tonality of the input signal (with ribbon and dynamic microphones), providing additional creative control when recording with PureDrive preamps. Phantom power (48V) and phase reverse are individually selectable for each channel. 14-segment meters provide instant visualization of gain levels, sampling frequency, and sync status.

Analog Obsession
In addition to high-performance microphone preamps, the PureDrive Quad is equipped with balanced analog outputs/input jacks for external processing and high-quality input/output/ADC jacks with a +24 dBu level of analog-to-digital conversion. In critical audio signal transmission channels, no electromechanical components such as potentiometers, mechanical switches, or relays are used, increasing the device's lifespan and ensuring seamless level matching across all channels. The use of analog circuits with digital control, as well as stepped attenuators and electronic switches, further simplifies memorization and accuracy of settings.
