The Solid State Logic SSL E Series EQ module for the API 500 series rack is a rack module in the style of the API 500 lunchbox series with circuits from the classic SSL 4000 E series channel console. This sound has been heard on countless recordings from the 1980s to the present day.
The module is equipped with two different equalizers that were used in console versions released from 1981 to 1989, each of which has a unique response curve and tone character. The equalizers come in two versions: "Black-242" and "Brown-02". The device includes fully parametric low-frequency and low-frequency-frequency controls with Q adjustment. Both the high and low-frequency sections have a bell curve function. Like many modules, the nominal input/output signal level is +4 dB.
Brown equalizer knob
It has a classic logarithmically symmetrical design, ensuring that the ±3 dB boost/cut points maintain the same musical interval from the center frequency regardless of frequency and amplitude settings.
Blue equalizer knob
It has extended boost and cut ranges (±18 dB instead of ±15 dB), as well as a different control law for stricter low-frequency control.
Package includes:
- EQ module
- Manual.
