Softears Volume Green - Hybrid Sound with Character

The Volume puts rhythmic weight and vocal clarity at the centre of its hybrid design. These wired in-ear monitors combine a 10 mm dynamic driver with two customised balanced armature drivers in each earpiece, coordinated by a three-way crossover. The arrangement gives bass, midrange and treble their own dedicated transducers while bringing them together into a coherent musical presentation. From acoustic performances to layered studio productions, Volume is designed to balance an engaging low-frequency foundation with articulate voices and clearly defined instrumental detail.
Beryllium-Plated Dynamic Driver

A dedicated 10 mm dynamic driver handles the lower frequencies. Its beryllium-plated diaphragm works with a flexible polyurethane suspension, combining stiffness in the radiating surface with controlled movement at its edge. This construction is intended to preserve the impact of drum strikes and the texture of bass notes while allowing their decay to remain clearly audible. The emphasis is on a firm, responsive foundation that supports the rest of the arrangement and gives rhythm sections a convincing sense of movement.

Custom Balanced Armatures and Three-Way Integration

Two customised balanced armature drivers reproduce the midrange and treble. Their tuning complements the dynamic driver, bringing definition to vocals, acoustic instruments and the finer details within a recording. The three-way crossover distributes the signal between the drivers and coordinates their overlapping frequency regions, helping maintain tonal continuity as music moves from low notes into higher harmonics.
This division of acoustic work supports a clear presentation of complex passages. Voices remain distinct within the accompaniment, while percussion, guitar strings and reverberation retain their individual character. Volume’s tuning aims to make these details accessible within a complete musical performance.
Translucent Resin and Aluminium Construction

Translucent green resin gives a glimpse of the acoustic components within. The medical-grade resin shells are paired with aluminium alloy faceplates, creating a distinctive combination of depth, colour and metallic texture. Subtle branding completes the green finish without distracting from the sculpted form of the housings.
The contoured shells are shaped for an over-ear fit, with the cable guided behind each ear. Interchangeable tips allow the seal to be adjusted, helping achieve consistent bass reproduction and passive isolation. A vent serves the dynamic driver, while the close-fitting resin body and correctly selected tips help reduce surrounding noise during everyday listening.
Detachable Cable for Portable and Home Listening

The supplied black four-core braided cable uses 0.78 mm two-pin connectors and a 3.5 mm stereo plug. Its flexible construction and pre-shaped ear guides support comfortable routing, while a red marking identifies the right channel. The detachable connection allows a worn cable to be replaced independently of the earpieces and provides compatibility with suitable aftermarket IEM cables.
Volume connects to compatible headphone outputs on portable players, DACs and other audio equipment. Phones or computers without a 3.5 mm output require an appropriate DAC adapter. With a nominal impedance of 5 ohms at 1 kHz, the earphones are best paired with an output designed to handle low-impedance loads.
Frequency Response and Listening Options

Softears specifies sensitivity at 123.7 dB for a 1 Vrms input at 1 kHz, with total harmonic distortion below 1% at the same frequency. The stated frequency range is 8 Hz–40 kHz, measured using a quarter-inch free-field microphone at −5 dB. The effective frequency response measured with an IEC 60318-4 ear simulator is 20 Hz–20 kHz.
The supplied selection of ear tips provides options for adjusting fit and seal. Silicone, Ultra Clear and foam tips offer different surface textures and levels of compliance, allowing the listener to choose the most comfortable match. A protective carrying case keeps the monitors and cable together between sessions, while the cleaning accessories support routine care.
