The Mytek Empire Streamer from Mytek was designed to be a multifunctional device. In addition to the capabilities of a network player, it includes the functionalities of a Roon Core server, DAC, headphone amplifier, preamplifier, and MM/MC phono stage. Inside the Mytek Empire Streamer are two processors, with one fully dedicated to Roon Core. The second processor runs the Mytek OS, facilitating data exchange with external devices. It features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and gigabit Ethernet. The cable outputs include digital coaxial, AES/EBU, TOSLINK, USB2, and 8-channel HDMI. Inputs include coaxial AES/EBU, TOSLINK, and 2-channel HDMI. The second processor also manages the touchscreen display, which is the size of an iPhone screen but with an increased vertical viewing angle. The onboard DAC in the Empire uses a pair of ESS 9038PRO chips in dual mono configuration, powered by separate toroidal transformers. The DAC has a dynamic range of 130 dB, supports PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz, DSD512, MQA, and upsampled DSD frequencies. The linear power supplies in the Empire are built with toroidal transformers that can automatically switch between AC voltages of 100, 120, and 240V. The device is equipped with a balanced headphone amplifier with high-current output, as well as a transformer-based MM/MC phono stage. An 8 TB built-in SSD is included for the music library, which can be supplemented with an external hard drive.
