With bass of benchmark quality, the 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model complements the new array of 12th generation Uni-Q® drivers perfectly. Meticulous engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to blend seamlessly with flawless midrange and high frequencies.
The Reference's woofer also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and a very light but rigid aluminum diaphragm. These technologies deliver exceptional sound volume, dynamics, and power.
Reference speakers are versatile in placement and easily adapt to your listening area using KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology (adjustable ported bass reflex port), reducing resonances inside the port. The package includes two port options, allowing users to adjust the sound according to room size. Additionally, the flare and shape of each port are calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and noise that color the sound.
All The Reference series cabinets are developed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and position of braces, minimizing secondary radiation from side walls. Constrained layer damping is applied to convert remaining vibrations into heat.
