KEF Reference 1 Meta are compact 3-way bookshelf speakers from The Reference Meta series. Designed to be placed on floor stands, these speakers deliver a spacious, high-quality sound that exceeds the capabilities of their size.
Features:
- The absorbing metamaterial (MAT) technology eliminates 99% of high-frequency distortions
- 12th generation Uni-Q radiator with MAT technology
- Enhanced crossover design for clean signal transmission
- Optimized cabinet construction for optimal acoustic characteristics
- Finishing options created by combining three cabinet color variants with five diffuser colors
- Floor stands S-RF1 and grills available as separate items
You don't need a large speaker to enjoy premium sound quality. The three-way design of the Reference 1, with its stunning sound reproduction capabilities, combines all the advanced innovations specifically developed for the remarkable little LS50.
The combination of the latest enhanced version of the 125mm Uni-Q module and the sensational new 165mm bass driver with an aluminum diaphragm creates an enchantingly realistic soundstage unexpected for a system of such modest size.
Whether installed on shelves or stands, the KEF Reference 1, thanks to the consistently wide and even dispersion characteristics unique to the Uni-Q technology, also serves as an ideal rear channel for a home theater system that will surely captivate your heart.
Reference Sound
The Reference acoustic systems are designed for serious audiophiles who strive for the highest enjoyment from listening to music and watching movies. Listeners will experience realistic and immersive sound with stunning dynamics and a level of authenticity that reveals previously unheard details. It doesn't matter if the sound is reproduced through a traditional stereo pair or a multi-channel home theater.
The sound of The Reference Meta acoustic systems is transparent and realistic, powerful and dynamic, with clean, rich, and well-articulated bass.
12th Generation Uni-Q Driver
The KEF Uni-Q module provides clean and precise reproduction, a wide dispersion pattern, and a pure, uncolored sound.
The Uni-Q driver with MAT technology has been specially designed to achieve perfectly clean characteristics that a flagship KEF acoustic system should have. Uni-Q provides consistently pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of the volume level. The new design of the midrange driver's magnetic system with ultra-low distortion reduces the coefficient of nonlinear distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression, resulting in improved efficiency.
The technology of absorbing metamaterial (MAT)
The new feature in the design of The Reference Meta series acoustic systems is the use of absorbing metamaterial, effectively absorbing 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT technology is truly revolutionary: thanks to the complex structure of the material used, it exhibits properties that do not exist in natural substances.
Bass of benchmark quality
The 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new Uni-Q 12th generation driver array. Careful engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to seamlessly blend with flawless mid and high frequencies.
The Reference low-frequency driver also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and a very lightweight yet rigid aluminum diaphragm. As a result of all these technologies, we achieve excellent sound volume, dynamics, and power.
Flexible in use
Reference speakers are versatile in placement and easily adapt to your listening area using KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology, which reduces resonances inside the port. The package includes two options for phase inverted ports, allowing users to adjust the sound according to the room size. In addition, the flare and shape of each port were calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and coloration in the sound.
Revealing the finest details
Shadow Flare significantly reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, enabling the Uni-Q to perform at the highest level. The precisely designed surface expands the Uni-Q's waveguide effect for improved clarity, particularly when it comes to subtle nuances of plucked strings and other percussive sounds.
Computer-modeled cabinets
All cabinets in The Reference series are designed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and placement of braces, minimizing secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained layer damping is employed to transform any remaining vibrations into heat.
Perfected finishing
Finishing options are created by compiling three variations of cabinet colors with five diffuser colors: walnut with a satin front panel in silver and the same finish on the central driver cone; glossy white cabinet with a white front panel and a bright blue or champagne-colored speaker; deep black cabinet color and 12th generation Uni-Q driver with a subtly dark gray or contrasting copper finish.
