The metamaterial absorption technology in the KEF R5 Meta absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds for a pure and natural sound. The Uni-Q 12th generation drivers act as a single point source to increase the "sweet spot" and distribute sound more evenly. The hybrid aluminum bass drivers with a large excursion provide dense, deep, controlled bass. The signature 12th generation Uni-Q driver is equipped with a new motor system to enhance mid-range sound.
Developers also focused on the impact of air gap between the tweeter and midrange diaphragms of the Uni-Q, which should be minimized but can expand at certain resonant frequencies. A new structure and special damping behind the tweeter eliminate these resonances, resulting in smoother, more transparent, detailed high frequencies. Microfiber grilles with 1801 precision holes for each driver ensure performance even with the speaker grilles on.
The KEF R5 Meta speakers have more in common with the Reference series than the previous generation of the R Series. According to the developers themselves, only the name remains from the "old" lineup, while the number of innovations and improvements has exceeded 1000. Engineers at KEF have managed to apply a large number of technological solutions for such a high level of reproduction in this price category.
