The Genelec F One active subwoofer is one of the most compact models in the company's catalog and is designed to work alongside five Genelec G One satellites or a pair of larger G Two or G Three speakers. The subwoofer is capable of extending the system's overall frequency range down to 35 Hz in the bass register and integrates seamlessly with the main speakers in residential environments. The overall system volume can be adjusted using the remote control included with the Genelec F One.
The subwoofer features a built-in bass management system that handles frequencies below 85 Hz directly through the F One, while routing higher frequencies through the outputs dedicated to the satellite speakers. The unit is equipped with six RCA inputs for a 5.1-channel surround sound system and a 3.5 mm mini-jack input. This allows the Genelec F One to connect to various signal sources equipped with either RCA or mini-jack outputs. Five outputs are also provided for connecting the active loudspeakers of the main channels. All connectors are mounted on the bottom panel of the subwoofer, making the cable connections virtually invisible.
The low-frequency driver in the Genelec F One is also mounted on the bottom panel of the enclosure and is down-firing, as is the bass reflex port. Thanks to this arrangement, bass distribution in the listening room is uniform, and its perceived quality is virtually independent of the listener's position. To fine-tune the subwoofer's sonic character, a volume control is provided, along with toggle switches for input filter roll-off and absolute signal phase.
Since the subwoofer features built-in filters for the connected satellite speakers, the 5.1-channel output on the AV processor connected to the Genelec F One must be configured to pass full-range signals to all channels. The subwoofer is built in a uniquely shaped enclosure and will look excellent in any interior. If it is necessary to provide sound for larger rooms, two of these subwoofers can be utilized in the system, which will make the bass distribution even more uniform.
