The Fostex TH80 open-back headphones are premium-class headphones based on the TH909, Fostex's flagship open-back headphones. The housing is crafted from solid black walnut, high-quality wood, and features the patented BioDyna diaphragm dynamic driver technology manufactured in-house. These new premium-class headphones are meticulously assembled one by one at the factory in Japan.
Premium Sound Quality
The driver is borrowed from Fostex's in-house TH900 series with a magnetic flux density of 1.5 Tesla, and the original acoustic system used in the TH808 ensures high-quality sound across a wide frequency range. The driver, developed using patented technologies accumulated over many years, combines biocellulose fiber and other fibers in the diaphragm under optimal conditions to achieve low specific gravity, high Young's modulus, and high internal loss.
Low distortion levels, a super-strong magnetic circuit with a magnetic flux density of 1.5 Tesla using a matrix of neodymium magnets, and good free edge linearity provide excellent sensitivity and a wide dynamic range across the entire frequency spectrum, reproducing fine details with high resolution, excellent mid-range and high-range accuracy, and accurately reproducing low midrange frequencies with a large amplitude.
Unique Open-Back Housing
The housing is made of solid black walnut, high-quality wood, and features a unique design with an open hole and dual aluminum parts engraved, which change their appearance depending on the lighting and viewing angle. The combination of carefully selected diaphragm and internal details with the resonance of the black walnut array creates a natural sound field that is pleasant to listen to and does not fatigue the listener.
Original High-Purity OFC Cable
The TH808 comes with an original high-purity copper cable (oxygen-free copper) that is maximally purified from impurities to enhance performance. The connectors are rhodium-plated for increased hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, as well as contact terminals on the headphone housing. Symmetrical connection is also supported with the XLR cable (ET-H3.0N7BL) (sold separately).
Low Resilience Earpads
The earpads, similar to the TH909 model, have low-resilience cushions that cover the back of the ears to reduce sound leakage, and are made of carefully selected high-quality synthetic leather, providing a pleasant feel and comfortable fit even after prolonged use.
