The FiiO D03K TAISHAN is a mini DAC in a compact housing. The device features optical and coaxial inputs for receiving digital audio signals, and an analog stereo output represented by RCA connectors and a mini-jack socket. It can be used to connect players or TVs with digital outputs to analog integrated amplifiers or mini-systems to improve the sound quality of the system. Additionally, the presence of a 3.5mm output allows for connection to devices such as wireless headphone transmitters that do not have other types of connectors. This device can also come in handy in many other scenarios.
The FiiO D03K TAISHAN supports signal processing with parameters up to 24-bit/192 kHz and is equipped with a miniature toggle switch for selecting inputs (coaxial/optical). A corresponding LED is used to indicate the start of data conversion (Signal Lock). The device is powered by an external power supply connected to the converter through a standard USB connector. The D03K TAISHAN circuitry is constructed on a miniature board with shortened signal transmission paths, minimizing interference. The metal housing of the converter also serves to protect its electronic components from external interference and is painted black.
Its compact size allows the DAC to be hidden behind the player or TV, using cables of minimal length for connection. Despite its small size and simplistic appearance, the D03K TAISHAN provides a much higher sound quality than the built-in converters of most DVD and BD players, as well as media players. However, it should be noted that this device is designed to work only with PCM streams and cannot decode audio information in Dolby Digital or DTS. Nevertheless, the device performs its primary function very well and is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve the sound quality of many audio systems.
