Designed using the same advanced technologies as the rest of the flagship Diamond series 800 line, it features our diamond dome tweeter, top-mounted solid-body tweeter, Continuum Cone midrange driver, and two Aerofoil bass drivers. Use the HTM82 D5 at home and enjoy movies with even greater depth, clarity, and liveliness. The center channel speaker is available in Stealth Black, Warm White, and Dark Walnut colors with an additional floor stand for convenient installation.
Diamond Dome Tweeter
Combining the most advanced and innovative speaker technology, the HTM82 D5 provides the cleanest sound in the world. The diamond dome tweeter raises the breakup frequency to 70 kHz, ensuring exceptional purity, accuracy, and openness.
Continuum Cone
Thanks to its composite construction, Continuum helps to avoid abrupt changes in behavior that can degrade speaker performance. The result is a more open, neutral sound that provides accuracy and transparency for voices and instruments.
Optimized Midrange and Bass Driver
With improved drivers based on the renowned Signature range of speakers, the new bass/midrange and midrange drivers in all new Diamond D5 series 800 models deliver cleaner sound with low distortion for a more precise and expressive presentation.
Midrange Drive Unit
Each Diamond series 800 floor-standing speaker is equipped with a special midrange driver that incorporates four key Bowers & Wilkins technologies: Continuum Cone, FST, biomimetic suspension, and decoupling of midrange frequencies to minimize interference from the speaker's bass drivers.
Biomimetic Suspension
Sometimes unconventional thinking is needed to make significant improvements. Engineers thought for decades that nothing could improve the sound of the famous yellow aramid fiber midrange drivers, but eventually the Continuum technology changed that. Engineers have now turned their attention to another important element of the speaker cone - the fabric "spider." Biomimetic suspension revolutionizes the characteristics of the midrange cone, greatly reducing unwanted air pressure and coloration that a conventional fabric spider can create. The result? Midrange clarity that you wouldn't believe is possible.
Enchanced Matrix Technology
Interconnected panels are used in the Matrix bracing of the speaker cabinets in all directions to reduce resonance and create a more lifelike soundstage. Each new Diamond series 800 model features improved Matrix construction, combining sturdy plywood construction and aluminum fixings to reinforce key load points.
Flowport Housing
Unlike flat speakers with curved backs, Diamond series 800 speakers feature a continuous curved cabinet fixed in place with a sturdy aluminum base. Fewer joints provide a stiffer and more inert construction, while the curved front panel reduces interference around drive units. This improves sound dispersion and reduces reflections from the cabinet.
Spatial Frame Mounting
As an extra enhancement to the extremely rigid Diamond series 800 speaker cabinets, the new D5 models feature aluminum guides on the back wall of each cabinet for mounting the spatial frame. These highly rigid structures further protect the cabinet from unwanted mechanical vibrations, creating an even more spacious and immersive soundstage.
Mass Damping Adjustable Plinth
The aluminum plinths of all Diamond series 800 floor-standing speakers feature a limited layer damping system and adjustable mass dampers, individually optimized for the mechanical resonances of each individual driver. This reduces unwanted cabinet coloration and provides a cleaner low-frequency output.
Upgraded Crossover
The series 800 uses upgraded crossovers mounted on rigid aluminum spikes. This isolates sensitive capacitors from the unwanted effects of air pressure inside the cabinet and creates a highly efficient radiator for optimal performance.
