Solid 100% Silver Conductors - Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS)
The application of Perfect-Surface technology to ultra-clean silver ensures unrivaled purity and dynamic contrast in sound. Solid conductors prevent electromagnetic interference between wires, which is a major source of distortion in cables. The extremely pure Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortions caused by grain boundaries found within any metal conductor, virtually eliminating unpleasant harshness in sound and resulting in a much cleaner sound compared to achievable results using other grades of copper such as PCOCC, OFC, 8N, and so on.
Solid High-Density Polyethylene Insulation
Any solid material in contact with a conductor essentially becomes part of an imperfect electrical circuit. Insulation materials in wires and circuit boards absorb electrical energy, leading to loss. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortions. Solid high-density polyethylene insulation provides the necessary geometry for the signal pair, with induced phase distortions kept to a minimum.
48V DBS Dielectric-Bias System
Any insulation slows down the speed at which a signal travels inside a conductor. If the insulation is not biased, different parts of the signal will experience different delays, which poses a significant problem for highly time-sensitive multi-octave sound. AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong constant electrical field in which insulation material molecules become saturated and polarized (organized). This reduces energy storage in the insulation and minimizes the occurrence of many nonlinear delays. The result is a remarkably dark background with unexpected levels of detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS battery charge is designed to last for many years of operation, and a test button and LED are provided for periodic battery checks.
Connection Technologies
Precisely made silver-plated plugs are carefully soldered using the best possible solder. By selecting the soldering flux and metallurgy, AudioQuest's experts have optimized the solder for low distortion connections. The choice of solder has audible differences depending on the quality of the connection. AudioQuest's solder contains a moderate amount of silver, as too much silver makes it challenging to achieve a quality connection.
