The device features 10 high-quality drum tones, including a kick drum, two snares, open and closed hi-hats, two toms, a cymbal, and a cowbell. It also includes an FM-Drum section for creating sounds based on FM synthesis. Parameters for editing tones such as pitch, tone color, decay time, and others are available. The tones are triggered by 8 backlit pads with touch sensitivity, and there is a powerful polyrhythmic sequencer with 64 patterns of 64 steps each. Effects for patterns include Swing, accentuating weak beats, Random for random dynamic changes, and Step Repeat for looping a sequence section down to a single beat. The Color mode can be applied to entire patterns or individual hits, significantly altering the sound to make it more powerful and louder. Lastly, the audio signal can be processed through the built-in distortion instead of the Steiner-Parker filter from the original version.
To control the sequencer, start and stop recording, set tempo, and edit other functions, the front panel features backlit buttons and several knobs. The selected tempo is displayed on the built-in LCD screen in BPM, and there is also a Tap Tempo button. The optional automatic quantization technology helps your patterns sound precise and accurate. A notable feature of this drum machine is the ability to output drum signals through four independent outputs for the kick drum, snare, hi-hat, and FM section. These outputs are presented with 1/8" Jack TS connectors. There is a single unbalanced output on a 1/4" Jack TS connector and a headphone output on a 1/8" Jack TRS connector. The device includes MIDI interfaces on standard 5-pin connectors, as well as Clock input and output on 1/8" Jack TRS connectors for connecting and synchronizing with external devices. Lastly, there is a USB-B port used for transmitting MIDI commands via the MIDI Control Center program and for installing future system updates.
