ArcTec AB 92 Airborne are full-sized open-back planar-magnetic headphones, offering an unforgettable listening experience. The innovative, uncompromising approach to achieving the best music reproduction. The design of the headphones aims for maximum neutrality and consistently pleasant sound reproduction during extended listening sessions without any artificial sound embellishments. The AB 92 model targets the high-end market and is based on years of experience in transducer design.
New Materials - Improved Construction
When considering conductive materials based on both electrical conductivity and specific weight, silver emerged as the clear winner. Ultra-thin membranes with a diameter of 1.5 micrometers, manufactured in-house, provide an unprecedented bandwidth exceeding 50 kHz.
Pure Silver Conductors
Silver is the ideal material in terms of conductivity and weight, ensuring unparalleled signal transmission. The transducer core features an extremely thin membrane with a total thickness of less than 1.5 micrometers, including the conducting tracks. These tracks are made of high-purity silver chosen for its optimal ratio of conductivity to mass. The result is fast impulse response and low distortion.
Open-Back Design
Completely unrestricted rearward radiation eliminates reflections and provides a clean and natural sound reproduction. AB stands for "airborne-droplet" - literally hovering in the air, free from reflections. The fully open design prevents any coloration from sound reflections off the membrane.
Precision Aluminum
Precision-machined and damped aluminum housings provide acoustic neutrality without ringing or coloring. Rings of exceptionally rigid machined aluminum are carefully damped to eliminate ringing. Black anodized glass and pearl glass treatment ensure long-lasting beauty and acoustic neutrality.
Magnetic Structure and Efficiency
With a 92-millimeter diaphragm diameter and a large number of powerful neodymium magnets, the AB 92 possesses high dynamic characteristics. The transducer has an impedance of around 33 ohms and relatively high efficiency, allowing for use with high-quality headphone amplifiers and powerful portable sources.
Operation Principle of Magnetic Static Transducer
The AB 92 uses a magnetic static principle instead of an AMT driver. Weight, efficiency, and adjustable acoustic characteristics were decisive factors in making this decision. The main focus is on a balanced combination of studio monitor neutrality and comfort for long-term music listening.
Sound Character and Durability
ArcTec AB 92 delivers airy, dynamic, and balanced sound. The spatial image is precise, the bass is controlled, and the reproduction remains effortless even at high volumes. All components are replaceable, ensuring a long service life. Assembly, measurement, and delivery are carried out in Berlin.
Comfort and Ergonomics
Despite weighing around 540 grams, the AB 92 headphones are designed for a more comfortable listening experience. Large asymmetrical leather-covered ear pads evenly distribute pressure and are suitable even for those wearing glasses. Flexible connections and smoothly adjustable headband provide a secure yet relaxed fit.
