Exceptional Design Born from Two Exceptional Minds
The Aavik P-x88 series is the result of a unique collaboration between two renowned designers. Gryphon Audio founder Flemming E. Rasmussen joined the Aavik team in 2021, bringing over 35 years of design experience. Combining his artistic vision with the innovative technical approach of Michael Borresen, they created the P-188, P-288, and P-588 amplifiers, which not only look stunning but also provide exceptional sound perception.
Cutting-Edge Technologies for Music Control
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers are based on the latest version of Pascal class D amplifier technology, providing even faster UMAC switching modulation and lower noise levels. This scheme now requires less filtering and has lower output impedance, offering greater control over connected speakers and stable performance across the musical spectrum.
Resonant Mode Power Source
The Aavik P-x88 amplifiers feature a rapid-response, low-noise pulse power supply optimized for Class D amplification. Operating in resonant mode with power factor correction, it delivers smooth, clean sinusoidal power. When additional power is needed, the power supply adjusts frequency to increase power density, providing high peak currents without distortion. This results in very low noise levels, low output impedance, and excellent speaker control.
3rd Generation Analog Smoothing Technology
The 3rd generation of Ansuz analog smoothing technology has been developed. This technology originated in radar, providing a stronger signal and greater reach. Active Tesla coils send pulsating signals at specific frequencies, enhancing the musical signal and eliminating background noise.
Tesla Coil Operation Principle
The principle involves having two coils wound in each direction – the coil and the counter coil. When a Tesla coil encounters a sharp voltage spike, a counter spike is activated to eliminate noise. Since noise spikes are a result of pure voltage and carry little charge, the suppression level is quite high but not 100%. Performance is increased when more P-TC coils are connected in parallel, significantly improving musical perception.
Active Tesla Coils Effectively Suppress Noise
Active Tesla coils powered by the power source provide significantly lower resistance and therefore better noise elimination capabilities. The active version is approximately three to four times more efficient than passive Tesla coils.
Active Square Tesla Coils
Active square Tesla coils are embedded in the circuit boards – one coil is on top, the other on the reverse side. Their operation principle is the same as active Tesla coils, offering greater noise elimination capabilities than passive Tesla coils.
Anti Aerial Resonance Coil Technology
Prevents interference in cables by acting as antennas for airborne radio frequency interference. The passive Tesla cable coil is wound around the outer part of the cable, protecting the signal from absorbing airborne radio frequency interference. This noise is absorbed by the Tesla coil, which acts against the voltage in the conductor, thereby eliminating radio frequency noise.
Chassis with Excellent Sound Qualities
Aavik designed the chassis to minimize the use of aluminum and its associated mechanical resonance. Over the years, the company tested various materials and eventually developed an innovative natural-based composite material that reduces mechanical impact, especially hysteresis. The sound result is clearly audible, reflecting another important cornerstone in Aavik's pursuit of the ultimate musical experience.
