Loewe is a leading international brand of television and entertainment electronics that has truly shaped the television industry. Loewe was founded in Berlin in 1923 by the brothers Siegmund and David Ludwig Loewe. A little later, the famous physicist, researcher and inventor Manfred von Ardenne was invited to join. Throughout its history since 1923, Loewe has embodied the most daring innovative ideas in its designs. The company's credits include the world's first integrated circuit, the world's first television with electronic scanning, the first cassette recorder in Europe, the first video recorder for home use, the first stereo television in Europe, the first television with 100% digital signal processing technology, and the world's first television with direct Internet access.
Loewe Radio
1923 is the year radio appeared in Germany. And in 1926, Loewe created a real sensation - the Loewe OE 333 radio model, which was released in a circulation of more than a million copies. The product was based on the famous integrated circuit (three-stage amplifier), created by Manfred. Thanks to it, it became possible to produce a generally available inexpensive radio receiver with high-quality sound transmission. The main advantages of the Loewe OE 333 were its compactness and reliability, since the device was protected from external influences by a glass case. This became the first serious commercial success, which had a significant impact on the development of radio broadcasting in Germany.
The creation of television
The Loewe company was part of the evolution of television. At the 8th Berlin Radio Exhibition in 1931, Loewe presented a sensation - the world's first electronic transmission of film images, invented by Manfred von Ardenne, a young brilliant physicist and chief engineer of Loewe at that time. He replaced mechanical methods of transmitting images with the much better cathode ray tube (also known as the Braun tube). His triple tube was the impetus for the production of the Loewe multi-tube circuit, and today it is claimed to be the world's first integrated electronic circuit. Since then, Loewe has stood for television "Made in Germany".
Technological Pioneers
Many Loewe products have become real milestones in the history of television, the first of their kind internationally. In the 1950s, Loewe began producing Optaphon, the first cassette recorder. In 1961, the first European video recorder, the Optacord 500, went into series production. Loewe also produced the first portable television, the first television with stereo sound in Europe, the world's first "environmentally friendly" television, which is completely recyclable, and the world's first Smart TV.
Then Loewe continued its evolution by introducing the first internet-enabled television. The first Loewe flat-screen television established Loewe as a premium manufacturer. In 2017, Loewe received the gold iF Design Award and five German Design Awards for innovative products with trendy designs.
New Horizons
Loewe's investment life has been no less eventful. The company has gone through stages of family business, an IPO, a period in which subsidiaries of the Phillips Group acquired a majority of the shares, a stake from an investor group consisting of German family businesses and former Apple and Bang & Olufsen managers. Unfortunately, there was also a financial crisis due to competition from more flexible and cheaper brands in Asia and even bankruptcy filings. But in 2019, Loewe returned to business, as the investment company Skytec Group took over the brand and re-profiled it.
Loewe today
Today, Loewe develops, produces and markets a wide range of televisions, audio equipment, loudspeakers, multi-room systems, stands and mounts for end users and businesses. Loewe stands for the best picture and sound quality and uses high-quality materials, energy efficiency and intelligent algorithms. For example, Loewe recently teamed up with the Berlin sound experts Mimi Hearing Technologies to combine the results of a hearing test with the audio output of the Loewe TV, amplifying and masking certain frequencies adapted to personal hearing profiles. Loewe's principle is to make something special out of every product. That's why Loewe places the highest demands on the design and quality of its products. Loewe products are subject to a concept that includes a minimalist design language, only the necessary innovations that create new values, intuitive operation, excellent picture and sound, and excellent workmanship.
