Mid-Side recording
Mid-Side is an advanced recording technology that gives you much more control over the width of the stereo field than others, allowing you to make changes anytime after recording.
The iQ7 includes two microphone elements: a directional microphone that captures the signal directly in front of your device (Mid) and a bidirectional microphone that captures audio from both sides (Side).
The three-position switch gives you the choice between a 90-degree position (for focusing on center sounds) and a 120-degree position (for wider capture, including room ambience). The third position is "M-S", which allows you to record clean audio and adjust the width of the stereo field after recording using the Handy Recorder app for iOS.
Zoom Handy Recorder App
The Zoom Handy Recorder app, available for download from the App Store, adds a rich set of features to your iQ7 and iOS device. In addition to controlling levels on the device screen, it allows you to adjust the volume of headphones connected to your iQ7, apply automatic settings that will be useful when recording meetings, speeches, interviews, and similar situations where you can't miss a word. Choose PCM format for recording in the highest quality or AAC format if saving space is important. You can also apply compression, adjust the equalizer, and add reverb effects. This app even allows you to email the resulting recordings or upload them to the SoundCloud music service.
Advanced creative capabilities
With the iQ7, you can take your creativity to a new level. It works not only with Apple's Voice Memo and Garageband apps but also with most other apps that are compatible with an external microphone. You can use the iQ7 with voice recognition apps and record audio in high quality. Or organize a live performance using apps that stream audio. Apps that support different sampling frequencies (such as Handy Recorder) allow you to choose between 44.1 and 48 kHz for recording in the quality-to-file size ratio you need.
