H5Studio is designed for seamless professional work. It allows you to record sound of impeccable quality with stunning microphone clarity, studio-level preamps, and 32-bit floating point format.
Large microphones, first time on a portable recorder
Microphones with a diameter of 19.4 mm provide stunning frequency response, a maximum sound pressure level of 140 dB, and the widest dynamic range. The increased size allows for audio recording with unparalleled depth and accuracy.
F Series preamps now in your hands
H5Studio inputs are equipped with the same preamps as the F Series field recorders. They provide unparalleled sound clarity (-127 dB EIN). Combined with dual analog-to-digital converters and 32-bit floating point format, they deliver an impressive dynamic range of 132 dB, capturing everything without noise or distortion.
Full control and no clipping
Both 16/24-bit and 32-bit floating point formats have their advantages. The 32-bit floating point format prevents clipping, but requires post-processing work. Recording in 16/24-bit format allows you to free yourself from post-processing, but you need to keep an eye on the gain level during recording to prevent clipping. H5Studio solves both of these problems, allowing you to record audio in 32-bit floating point format while adjusting the gain to protect you from clipping and freeing you from post-processing.
Four tracks + stereo mix
Record audio with a sampling frequency from 44.1 to 192 kHz. H5Studio can record up to 6 tracks* simultaneously - 4 individual tracks plus stereo mix. *Stereo mix is available only at a sampling frequency of 96 kHz.
Protect your sound
Specially designed EM shielding protects your recordings from interference originating from smartphones and Wi-Fi routers, wherever you are.
Advanced limiters
H5Studio recorder is equipped with advanced limiters with a predictive algorithm that anticipates potential overloads and prevents distortion before it is recorded on your tracks.
Inputs
Two XLR/TRS inputs with 48V phantom power support and +4 dBu line input gain. There is also a 3.5mm stereo input with power supply.
Next-generation interchangeable microphone capsules system
H5Studio features a third-generation interchangeable microphone capsule system* that supports 32-bit Float format, giving users more options to choose the right microphone for the task. *Compatible with SSH-6e, EXH-6e, and WLM-1.
EXH-6e additional inputs module
Install the optional EXH-6e module with two combined XLR/TRS inputs to add even more flexibility to your recorder. Connect additional microphones, musical instruments, mixers, and more.
SSH-6e shotgun capsule
The interchangeable SSH-6e module is a Mid-Side shotgun capsule designed to record directional sound with a touch of ambient surroundings. With precise stereo width control, you can record super-directional sound, blending only the ambient sounds you need.
XYH-5s stereo microphone capsule
The large 19.4 mm microphones in H5Studio provide outstanding sound quality with a maximum sound pressure level of 140 dB, stunning frequency response, and a dynamic range of 123 dB.
WLM-1 wireless lavalier microphone module
WLM-1 is a two-channel radio system that comes with two transmitters and one receiver. The built-in transmitter microphone provides clear, balanced sound with a maximum SPL of up to 130 dB.
Sound waveform and levels
Monitor levels with a sound waveform displayed in real-time on the full-color LCD screen.
Outputs
Headphone output. Use the loud (20 mW) headphone output for direct monitoring or listening to your recordings in any conditions. Line output. Use the 3.5mm stereo line output for direct connection to a camera to synchronize your audio and video. Built-in speaker. The built-in speaker with a maximum power of 250 mW allows you to listen to your recordings right on location.
USB audio interface
H5Studio can work as a USB audio interface (with 4 inputs and 2 outputs) for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, supporting recording in 32-bit floating point and 16/24-bit formats. Stream your audio tracks while simultaneously recording a backup on an SD card.
Smart synchronization
The TCA-1 timecode adapter* generates and outputs timecode or syncs with an external timecode generator. With a high-precision temperature-compensated quartz oscillator (TCXO), it generates timecode with an accuracy of no more than 0.5 frames in 24 hours. There is also the option of wirelessly receiving timecode from the UltraSync BLUE synchronizer.
Handy Control & Sync app
With the ZOOM Handy Control & Sync app for iOS, you can remotely control multiple Zoom recorders, start and stop recording, and synchronize timecode without any hassle.
Power supply
H5Studio will run for up to 15 hours on 4 AA alkaline batteries. You can also connect a portable USB battery pack or a power adapter to the recorder's USB port.
Special features
H5Studio includes special features for people with visual impairments. Menu sections have audio descriptions that can be played through the built-in speaker or connected headphones. Descriptions are available in English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian, and Chinese.
