ZMF Headphones Caldera Closed are full-size closed-back headphones with the same patented planar driver as the open-back version. They feature an 80mm planar driver with a 61mm active diaphragm surface, enclosed in a carbon fiber chamber to reduce the coil and magnet array weight to a comfortable level for wearing.
The Atrium damping system (ADS) was designed to weaken sound waves emitted by the driver towards the ear, deflecting them towards the internal chamber of the housing. Waves reflecting inside can affect the reproduced sound quality or reduce the converter's potential, for both open and closed-back headphones.
The Atrium damping system solves this issue by precisely selecting the inbound waves and suppressing those negatively impacting the sound. This patented technology enhances the sound quality, improving the reproduction of soundstages, depth, timbre, and texture.
ZMF headphones are characterized by handcrafted wooden housings. The current wood choice for Caldera Closed is Charred Ash wood. The ash is processed using the Shou Sugi Ban method, highlighting the beauty of this unique European ash wood.
The ZMF Caldera headband is made of a durable aluminum alloy, natural leather, and high-quality foam. They have an ergonomic profile ensuring a perfect fit on the head, and the wide headband additionally stabilizes them. The headband is available in black, while the headphones have black sliders that complement the ear pads perfectly.
