The Yamaha A-S801 Full Amplifier is ruggedly built and features circuitry designed in accordance with Yamaha's proprietary ToP-ART technology. Direct Symmetrical Design (Direct Symmetrical Design), where the signal is transmitted from input to output in a direct symmetrical pattern with minimal noise and distortion. The result is an exceptionally clean and accurate sound. The amplifier utilizes quality relays, single point grounding, custom capacitors and other carefully selected premium components.
Key Features:
- High Quality Components delivering exceptional musical expression
- Toroidal power transformer with enormous energy for a pure musical sound
- Gorgeous level meters convey dynamics and music pulse with a nod to the nostalgic Hi-Fi era
- Floating Balanced Power Amplifier
- Mechanical ground concept maximises rigidity for expressive and rhythmic bass
- 2+3 Extended 5 year warranty via product registration
The power supply includes high-capacity buffer capacitors (12.000 µF each) and a custom Sch-core transformer, which, together with the aluminum heat sinks of the power amplifier section cooling, rests on a sturdy ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) base. The metal chassis is equipped with a double-bottom anti-vibration chassis with an additional millimeter-thick iron plate. A center tie beam is integrated into the chassis to stiffen the entire structure. Such technical solutions make a certain contribution to increasing the signal-to-noise ratio and to obtaining a natural sound. The model delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watts into 4 ohms.
On board, there is a tone compensation function with infinitely variable adjustment via a knob, which allows you to maintain the correct balance of treble and bass even at low volume levels. There is a CD Direct Amplification mode which, when connected via the CD input, guarantees a higher signal-to-noise ratio, cuts power to unused circuitry and ensures the cleanest possible playback. Another Pure Direct mode allows the signal to take the shortest possible path, bypassing the buffer amplifier, tone box, tone compensation and balance controls to eliminate noise and achieve a clean sound.
On board is a 32-bit ES9010K2M DAC that supports PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD (2.8/5.6MHz) when connected via an asynchronous USB port, for which the company offers Yamaha's Steinberg ASIO2.3 driver for minimal latency and high throughput. The amplifier design utilizes a separate reference oscillator to eliminate jitter. On the front of the chassis there is a number of LED indicators that determine the format of the incoming digital signal and its sampling frequency.
The Yamaha A-S801 is equipped with an MM phono stage and has a set of line inputs, as well as coaxial and optical inputs. There is a subwoofer jack and 4 pairs of gold-plated screw terminals. A Bluetooth receiver YBA-11 with aptX codec support can be connected to the amplifier.
