The tube condenser microphone Telefunken TF47 delivers deep, round low and mid-range frequencies, creating a unique sonic signature that adds depth and presence to a wide range of instruments and vocalists. It is well-suited for recording both male and female vocals in various genres including soul, R&B, rap, rock, and more where vocals are prominent in the mix.
The TF47 is also widely used on guitars, strings, and wind instruments, including cello and trombone. Percussion instruments, such as drums (beyond the drum kit) and toms, also pair well with this microphone.
Part of the Telefunken Alchemy large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone series, the TF47 model features a fully brass dual-sided capsule in the classic K47 style with a center termination, a new vintage-style 5840W vacuum tube, and a custom-made historically accurate BV8 transformer that gives the microphone its distinctive warm and rich sound reminiscent of the U47. The frequency response curve is characterized by a gradual increase in presence level in the mid-range frequencies, starting at around 500 Hz and peaking at approximately 3 dB at 4 kHz, then quickly decreasing to provide pleasant articulation at a high level, which often helps vocals and guitars take center stage in the mix.
The TF47 model offers switchable cardioid, omnidirectional, and bidirectional polar patterns, providing additional flexibility for a wide range of applications.
