Despite being designed for reproducing rich and sharp drum sounds, two built-in equalizer switches make the M82 equally suitable for working with a variety of sources, including vocals, percussion, guitar and bass amplifiers, organ, and wind instruments.
The KICK EQ and HIGH BOOST switches operate independently of each other, giving the user the ability to easily adjust the microphone's response depending on the sound source. The M82 is hand-assembled and tested at our American factory.
The "Kick" equalizer switch activates a passive filter that reduces the lower mid-range frequencies centered around 350 Hz, which are usually cut when processing a kick drum. This prevents the "boxiness" of your kick drum sound and helps retain strong low frequencies. The "High Boost" switch boosts upper mid-range and high frequencies starting around 2 kHz, with a 6 dB boost up to 10 kHz. When used with kick drums, it provides more punch when placed inside the drum. For sources like vocals or guitar amplifiers, the high boost provides additional articulation and airiness in the upper register.
