The Telefunken M60 is a small diaphragm condenser microphone with a cardioid field effect transistor, designed to react quickly to transient processes and accurately reproduce musical frequencies for musicians and sound engineers in home, project, and commercial studios.
Features:
- Cardioid polar pattern
- TK60 capsule
- FET active field transistors
- Transformer with individual winding
- 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane
- Class A discrete amplifier
- Fast transient response
- Low self-noise levels
The maximum sound pressure level of the M60 reaches 130 dB, and its low self-noise levels and fast transient response make it ideal for capturing a wide range of instruments and environments indoors. The included shock-mount protects the microphone from vibrations that would otherwise be transmitted through the microphone stand.
Detailed Frequency Response
The microphone features the M60 amplifier paired with the cardioid TK60 capsule, which is equipped with a 15mm diameter 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane. It provides incredibly rich low frequencies and a fast and precise transient response. The frequency response is flat from 150 Hz to 7 kHz with a smooth, airy peak at 8 kHz, making it ideal for use with drums, hi-hat and ride cymbals, piano, acoustic guitar, and other acoustic instruments.
Sound Characteristics
The incredibly fast transient response of the M60 allows for capturing nuances and subtleties with impressive accuracy and clarity. The result is an extremely detailed sound canvas with sharpness and expressiveness, perfect for complex string instruments and percussion sources.
Circuitry
Using patented circuit topology, this new interpretation of a classic field-effect transistor microphone amplifier provides exceptional transient characteristics and SPL control capabilities. Carefully selected and hand-tested components are inserted into gold-plated circuit boards, providing an ultra-clean Class A discrete amplifier with a frequency response of ±2dB in the range of 20 Hz to 50 kHz.
The output signal is matched with a custom-made American transformer, providing exceptionally low self-noise levels and a typical total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) at 0.015% or higher, making it ideal for critical recording applications.
Design
The M60 housing is coated with a durable black powder finish with a light texture, adorned with the historic TELEFUNKEN diamond badge. The XLR microphone connector housing is complemented by a matte black nickel-plated finish, with the model and serial number engraved on it. The TK60 capsule has a bright nickel-plated body with a fine gold mesh pattern.
