The PreSonus Studio Channel is a unit that combines a tube microphone/line preamplifier class A, a smooth VCA compressor, and a three-band parametric equalizer. The device is housed in a 1U metal case, with inputs and outputs made on Neutrik connectors.

The preamplifier design is based on the same technology used in the award-winning BlueTube model. Discrete circuitry instead of operational amplifiers and a 12AX7 vacuum tube operating at 30 V (approximately twice the value used in other amplifiers of this class) ensure an exceptionally clean, noise-free, "warm" sound and ample level reserve.
A sensitivity switch and Drive control allow for a wide range of tones, from crystal clear to overdriven. The PreSonus Studio Channel also features an 80 Hz low-cut filter, phase reverse button, and a 20 dB attenuator.
The parametric equalizer also contributes to achieving expressive, musical sound: it enables the sound engineer to achieve very smooth highs, depth in the low-frequency range, and clarity in the mid-frequency range. The equalizer can be switched before or after the equalizer. A resonance control is provided for the midrange.
PreSonus is known for its high-quality compressors, and the Studio Channel is no exception. VCA-based circuitry provides ultra-fast attack times to process quick signal transitions. The compressor section includes Ratio, Threshold, Attack, Release, and Make-up Gain controls, as well as sensitivity reduction and signal level indicators on the output. The Studio Channel compressor can be used to process any signal source, including slapped bass, snare drum, vocals, etc.
