In the housing of the Polk Audio PSW 111 subwoofer, many advanced technologies of this company are combined, developed in the field of acoustics of this class. This compact sub is great for placement even in small rooms where it will be almost unnoticeable, yet provide powerful, fast, and fairly deep bass.
The characteristics of the Polk Audio PSW 111 are ensured by the use of the proprietary Dynamic Balance concept - a combination of correctly selected materials for the woofer, enclosure geometry, electronic circuitry, and precise engineering calculations. The Klippel distortion analyzer based on computer modeling technology has ensured the most efficient operation of the 8-inch woofer by optimizing the construction of its magnetic system.
The woofer suspension was also precisely selected for flexibility to ensure its free movement with a large amplitude while damping any parasitic vibrations. The low-frequency driver's woofer is made of a composite material, which, despite its low mass, has high mechanical rigidity. The power of the built-in amplifier is 300 watts, with its output stages designed to achieve maximum load damping, i.e., to obtain focused and detailed bass.
The bass driver in the Polk Audio PSW 111 subwoofer is loaded on a phase inverter, the output port of which is located on the bottom panel to achieve uniform propagation of sound waves in the listening room. The subwoofer's enclosure made of thick MDF is equipped with specially designed internal braces to dampen parasitic vibrations and is dampened. The subwoofer features line stereo, LFE, and speaker inputs, providing flexibility for connection in both home theaters and two-channel setups.
For sound adjustment, the PSW 111 has signal level and input filter frequency adjustment controls. There is also a switch for absolute phase signal and an automatic on/off scheme for the subwoofer when a signal is present and it turns off after a certain amount of time without signal input.
