The Polk Audio VS 90-RT is a fairly large speaker with a round facade that belongs to the Vanishing line and is tonally compatible with standard RTi series box speakers. This speaker can be used in various multi-channel systems, including home theaters designed to work with formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. The model will also perform excellently as a speaker for additional zones in multi-room installations.
The construction of the Polk Audio VS 90-RT stands out for its originality and thoughtfulness. The front panel features a silk-polymer dome tweeter and a 3.25-inch mid-range driver. The panel has a slight tilt relative to the mounting surface, allowing these drivers to be accurately directed towards the listener during installation. A large oval-shaped (Cassini oval) woofer is angled inside the cabinet and positioned behind the tweeter and mid-range drivers. Two shaped ports for the phase inverter are located on the front panel, corresponding to a "bandpass" acoustic design. The ports are designed to eliminate air noise and provide clean deep low frequencies, improving dynamics and expanding the soundstage according to Polk Audio developers. The lightweight rigid polypropylene diffusers of the mid-range and woofer drivers are reinforced with mineral fillers.
The model is equipped with an ultra-thin mesh metal grille Sheer-Grille with magnetic attachment and very fine perforation, ensuring excellent acoustic transparency. The grille can be painted to match the color of the ceiling and walls of the room, making the speaker practically invisible.
The front panel of the Polk Audio VS 90-RT features a filter on/off button, allowing the tweeter volume to be reduced in a specific narrow frequency range. This method helps eliminate ringing that can occur when the speaker is installed in a poorly treated room where multiple sound reflections from wall surfaces occur.
The speaker is easily and quickly installed in a pre-prepared ceiling niche thanks to the Perfect Fit template and the universal patented Rotating Cam system, which has excellent anti-vibration properties. An optional special mount is available for installation.
