The PMC12 XBD is the perfect embodiment of the PMC12 design. This two-cabinet system consists of the standard three-way PMC12 speaker, complemented by a second identical cabinet equipped with only a low-frequency driver. This combination increases power and extends the low-frequency range, providing greater scale and impact, making it ideal for both stereo monitoring and immersive monitoring in large-scale music tracking and mixing applications, as well as for film and TV post-production, mastering, and broadcasting.
The main cabinet features a 34mm handmade soft-dome tweeter and PMC75v3 mid-range driver, equipped with exclusive a-void damping and signature n-compass waveguide. All of this is housed on a rotatable panel for vertical or horizontal placement. The glowing logo displays system status.
Low frequencies are reproduced by an innovative 12-inch custom-designed bass driver specifically engineered to work with the latest version of our ATL enclosure with LaminairX venting. The XBD cabinet is equipped with the same 12-inch bass driver, connected in parallel with the main loudspeaker, working to enhance the system's scale and impact. The primary and XBD cabinets can be placed separately as standalone vertical or horizontal cabinets or installed side by side in a ceiling-recessed configuration.
Power for both cabinets is provided by the rack-mountable PMC Master36 DSP/amplifier, using ultra-transparent Class D amplification delivering 800W to the tweeter and mid-range drivers, and 1000W to each of the two bass drivers, totaling 3.6kW. The built-in DSP in the system provides precise digital crossovers optimized for the combination of PMC12 drivers, transparent excursion limiting to protect the system, and a comprehensive room-optimized equalizer. The system accepts both analog and digital inputs and can be controlled over a standard local network via the SoundAlign2 browser interface.
