Neumann KH 80 DSP Active Nearfield Monitor

The Neumann KH 80 DSP is an active nearfield monitor designed for use in recording studios, video editing, radio stations, and even home environments. This monitor is perfect for music production, audio playback, and also works exceptionally well as a reference speaker system, with its flat frequency response and several functions that allow optimal sound adjustment for any room.

Features

  • Studio-grade active nearfield monitor
  • 4-inch composite fiberglass woofer, 1-inch fabric dome tweeter
  • Class D amplifiers with a total maximum power of 190W
  • Maximum sound pressure level of 108.8dB
  • Frequency range of 57Hz - 21kHz
  • Maximum linearity in frequency response
  • Acoustical Control function for fine-tuning the mid-range
  • Balanced input on Combo Jack/XLR connector
  • Remote control via Neumann.Control software
  • Composite polycarbonate cabinet with front-ported phase inverter

The device is equipped with two separate Class D amplifiers, providing a maximum output power of 120W for the low-frequency range and 70W for the high-frequency range. Sound reproduction is handled by a 4-inch composite fiberglass woofer with a long excursion and magnetic shielding, utilizing Extremely Linear Force Factor (ELFF) technology for the most linear frequency response, as well as a 1-inch fabric dome tweeter loaded onto an elliptical waveguide with Mathematically Modelled Dispersion (MMD), which ensures even and wide sound coverage. These drivers can reproduce audio signals in the range of 57Hz to 21kHz with a +/-3dB level. The crossover operates at 1.8kHz and employs 6th order filters with a 48dB per octave cutoff frequency. Maximum sound pressure level can reach 108.8dB, and the maximum output level can be set to 94, 100, 108, or 114dB. The built-in DSP processor offers Acoustical Control technology with four presets for adjusting the low-midrange, effectively eliminating excessive muddiness and indistinct sound. The input sensitivity can be adjusted within a range of 0 to -15dB.

For audio signal connectivity, the monitor is equipped with a balanced input on a Combo Jack/XLR connector. Additionally, there is an RJ45 port for remote control of the device via the Neumann.Control software, which is available on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android platforms. This software allows configuration of the DSP processor's functionality, which includes an equalizer, up to 70ms delay, limiter, and other features for sound optimization, as well as monitor calibration. The cabinet is made of composite polycarbonate and features front-ported phase inverter ports, with each speaker driver protected by a metal grille. There are two M6 threaded holes for additional options in efficient speaker placement. The device is powered via mains supply.

The Neumann KH 80 DSP A G is a professional studio monitor with excellent technical specifications, well-designed drivers, and a sturdy, optimized construction that fits seamlessly into any workspace. Despite its compact size, this monitor delivers a very decent output power and can sound impressively loud, while maintaining clarity and detail. This model is ideal for monitoring, mixing, and mastering, thanks to its truly accurate frequency response, wide frequency range, and the capabilities of the DSP processor.
