Description

The Neumann KH 120 A nearfield monitor is an excellent professional tool for use in studios of various types. It is perfect for musicians, especially keyboardists and DJs, who need compact yet powerful personal monitoring systems.

The KH 120 A is the first Neumann studio monitor to be released after the rebranding and redesign of the Klein + Hummel line. This active monitor is based on the original O 100 studio monitor. The new KH 120 A has been reworked to incorporate the latest acoustic and electronic modeling and measurement technologies. The monitor provides the most accurate sound reproduction and is equipped with a mathematically modeled dispersion waveguide, flexible acoustic control, Class A-B amplifiers, and an analog input. It is also wall-mountable. The manufacturer notes that all of these features will give you maximum flexibility in various acoustic conditions, regardless of your equipment source or physical location.

The Neumann KH 120 A is a compact active two-way nearfield studio monitor designed for both professional and home studios, as well as musicians and regular listeners. The monitor features a waveguide with mathematically modeled dispersion and flexible control tools. One of the key features of the monitor is its bi-amp system, where the low and mid frequencies are amplified separately from the high frequencies. The Class A/B amplifiers can provide a nominal power of 50 watts each, with a total peak power of 160 watts.

The Neumann KH 120 A utilizes a long-throw 130mm (5.25") woofer and a 25mm (1") tweeter with a titanium dome. There are two front-facing phase invert ports, and on the rear side, you can see the radiator fins. All the main controls are located there as well. The XLR input for the source is hidden in the bottom of the speaker, next to which there is a block of four DIP switches that control the logo backlighting and other functions. At the top part, there is an ACOUSTICAL CONTROLS switch block, which controls the amplification and attenuation of three frequency ranges - low, high, and mid. Each of them is used in specific situations, for example, the BASS switch is used to compensate for forced amplification of low frequencies when the speaker is placed near a wall. Next, you can see the OUTPUT LEVEL switch, which controls the maximum sound pressure level at a distance of 1 meter, and can be set between 94 and 114 dB. Finally, there is the INPUT GAIN knob, which controls the input signal level. On the rear panel, there are also mounting holes for brackets - if you want to hang the monitor on a wall or stand.

The Neumann KH 120 A is housed in a compact aluminum cabinet with magnetic shielding, which minimizes resonances, improves heat dissipation, and prolongs the lifespan. The wide horizontal dispersion provides more freedom, while the narrow vertical dispersion reduces reflections from the mixer console. This is also facilitated by the cast front panel.
