The NAD D 3020 V2 is a compact integrated amplifier and is a replacement for the D 3020 model. The device's name is intentionally similar to the famous NAD 3020, which appeared on the market in the 70s. Externally, the NAD D 3020 V2 looks very similar to the previous version, but it has some interesting features in its specifications that reflect modern trends in the Hi-Fi market.
The most noticeable change in the NAD D 3020 V2 compared to the previous model is the exclusion of the USB-B input and its replacement with inputs for connecting an MM phono cartridge. The NAD D 3020 V2 also has received some other connectivity options. The amplifier has a built-in Bluetooth module with aptX support, making signal transmission from various mobile devices hassle-free. Another useful feature is the presence of a 3.5mm headphone output on the front panel.
There are some additions on the rear panel of the new amplifier. The D3020 V2 now has a preamp output and a connector for connecting a subwoofer (necessary adapters are included), as well as a 12-volt trigger input. In this model, NAD has installed Class D amplifiers, which have been favored recently. The NAD D 3020 V2 delivers 30 watts per channel at 4 or 8 ohm loads, and there are two pairs of screw terminals for speaker connections. Class D amplifiers traditionally outperform classic A/B schemes in terms of efficiency, so the NAD D 3020 V2 is quite compact and doesn't heat up during use. One of the amplifier's sound adjustment options is a bass equalization switch on the back panel, which helps enhance low-frequency sound richness.
The decision to make an amplifier that can be placed on its side is very successful for a model that looks more modern and stylish than many competitors. It features a light indicator for the volume level and selected input, and physical buttons have been replaced with a touch panel. The volume control knob has a smooth operation, and the device is characterized by high manufacturing quality. The amplifier also comes with a miniature remote control.
