The KEF T301 flat panel systems are designed to perfectly complement modern plasma and LCD televisions. Despite their slim body depth of only 3.5 cm, these speakers are not built on NXT sounding panels, but rather on dynamic diaphragm heads. The T series speakers were developed from scratch, resulting in many patented engineering solutions.
The mid-bass speaker in the T301 has a 4.5-inch (115 mm) caliber and a depth of only 27 mm. Despite its compact size, it offers comparable sensitivity and frequency range to its full-size counterparts. The speaker features a dual-layer diaphragm, with a durable polymer flat membrane on the outer part and an inner part with improved damping properties. The inner part has radial and ring ribs to increase rigidity. The innovative Z-Flex suspension, combined with this lightweight yet durable structure, allows for large displacements and piston mode operation. The sound coil, with an increased diameter, is housed inside a powerful neodymium magnet shaped like a cup. This compact design provides a homogeneous magnetic field, reducing non-linear distortions.
The T301 inch tweeter is equipped with a Tangerine diffuser, named for its resemblance to a segmented mandarin. The diffuser comprises vertical petals that expand the radiation pattern in both planes. This tweeter design is similar to those used in the flagship Reference line and the conceptual model Muon. It also features a neodymium magnetic system and a rear air duct to reduce dome resonances. The tweeter can be mounted on the wall, on a horizontal surface, or on stands using elegant aluminum stands.
Instead of traditional input terminals, the T301 has two openings in the rear recess. A bare wire can be inserted and clamped with a hex-slotted screw in these openings. The features of the T301 include a closed box acoustic design, 115 mm (4.5 inch) dual-layer mid/woofer, 25 mm (1 inch) tweeter, a frequency range of 80 Hz - 30 kHz, a crossover frequency of 1.7 kHz, a sensitivity of 91 dB when wall-mounted and 88 dB on floor stands, a power rating of 10-150 watts, and an impedance of 8 ohms.
