The flat KEF T301 speaker systems, which are perfectly compatible with modern plasma and LCD TVs, are built not on NXT sounding panels, but on dynamic diaphragm drivers - and all this with a depth of only 3.5 cm! That's why the speakers in the T series are unusual, they were developed literally from scratch, and many engineering solutions were patented.

The 4.5-inch (115 mm) midrange driver, for example, has a depth of only 27 mm but does not lag behind its full-size counterparts in sensitivity and frequency range. It has a dual-layer diaphragm: the outer part consists of a flat membrane made of durable polymer, while the inner part, with improved damping properties, has radial and annular ribs that increase stiffness.
In combination with the innovative Z-Flex surround, it was possible to create a lightweight and durable structure capable of operating in a piston mode with large displacements. The large-diameter voice coil is located inside a powerful neodymium cup-shaped magnet. The homogeneous magnetic field in this compact design radically reduces nonlinear distortion.
The 1-inch tweeter in the KEF T301 is equipped with a Tangerine waveguide, which is named after its resemblance to a mandarin divided into segments. In reality, these are vertical petals that expand the radiation pattern in both planes. In terms of design, this tweeter is not much different from those used in the flagship Reference series speakers and the conceptual Muon model. It also has a neodymium magnetic system and a rear vent that reduces dome resonances.
Both wall mounting and installation on a horizontal surface or stands are possible using elegant aluminum brackets. Instead of spring-loaded binding posts, there are two openings in the rear recess, where bare wires can be inserted and clamped with a hexagonal screw.
