KEF The Reference Meta speakers embody the highest quality standards of KEF, as reflected in the series name - "Reference." The essence of this flagship series lies in the absolute harmony of content and form, complete self-sufficiency, and distinctive individuality. KEF The Reference sets the benchmark in everything from its exterior design and meticulously crafted build quality to its acoustic characteristics and impressive range of innovative technologies.
Reference Sound
The Reference series acoustic systems are designed for serious audiophiles who strive for the ultimate enjoyment of music and movie playback. Listeners will experience a realistic and immersive sound with stunning dynamics and a level of authenticity that reveals previously unheard details. Whether the sound is reproduced through a traditional stereo pair or a multi-channel home theater, the sound of The Reference Meta acoustic systems is transparent and lifelike, powerful and dynamic, with clean, richly articulated bass.
12th Generation Uni-Q Driver
The KEF Uni-Q driver module provides clean and precise reproduction, a wide dispersion pattern, and a pure, uncolored sound. The Uni-Q driver with MAT technology has been specifically designed to achieve the perfect characteristics expected from a flagship KEF acoustic system. Uni-Q delivers consistently pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of the volume level. The new low-distortion midrange driver magnetic system design reduces the coefficient of nonlinear distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression, resulting in increased efficiency.
Absorbing Metamaterial (MAT) technology absorbs 99% of unwanted sound
The new feature in the design of the acoustic systems of The Reference Meta series is the use of absorbing metamaterial, effectively eliminating 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT technology is truly revolutionary: thanks to its intricate structure, the material used exhibits properties that do not exist in naturally occurring substances.
Benchmark-quality bass
The 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new array of 12th generation Uni-Q drivers. Meticulously engineered and with careful attention to detail, the bass blends harmoniously with flawless mid-range and high frequencies.
The Reference woofer also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and an extremely lightweight yet rigid aluminum diaphragm. As a result of these technologies, exceptional sound volume, dynamics, and power are achieved.
Flexible and easy to install
The Reference speakers are easy to position and can be easily adjusted to suit your listening area using KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology, which can reduce resonances inside the port. Two variations of the phase inverted port are included, allowing users to adjust the sound according to the room size. Additionally, the flare and shape of each port have been calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and noise that can affect the sound.
Revealing the finest details
Shadow Flare significantly reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, allowing the Uni-Q to perform at its highest level. The precisely engineered surface extends the waveguide effect of the Uni-Q to enhance clarity, particularly when it comes to subtle nuances of plucked strings and other percussion sounds.
Computer-modeled enclosures
All enclosures in The Reference series are designed using finite element analysis to determine the optimal shape and placement of bracing to minimize secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained Layer Damping is employed to convert remaining vibration into heat.
Exquisite finish
The finish of the enclosures is a reflection of the skillful construction: luxurious gloss or noble matte finish with natural veneer. The finish options are created by combining three color variations of the enclosure with five colors of diffuser cones: walnut with a satin silver front panel and the same finish for the center driver cone; glossy white enclosure with a white front panel and a brightly blue or champagne-colored driver; deep black enclosure color and 12th generation Uni-Q driver with a subtly dark gray cone or contrasting copper finish.
