Features:
- MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology) eliminates 99% of high-frequency distortions
- 12th generation Uni-Q driver with MAT technology
- Enhanced crossover design for clean signal transmission
- Optimized cabinet construction for the best acoustic characteristics
- Three cabinet finish options, combining three colors for the casing and five colors for the driver diaphragms
- Floor stands (S-RF1) and grilles available as separate items
Standard sound
The Reference acoustic systems are designed for serious audiophiles who seek the utmost enjoyment from listening to music and watching movies. Listeners will experience realistic and immersive sound with astonishing dynamics and a level of authenticity that reveals previously unheard details. Whether the sound is reproduced through a traditional stereo pair or a multi-channel home theater, the acoustic systems of The Reference Meta deliver transparent and realistic sound, with powerful and dynamic bass that is clean, rich, and well-articulated.
Uni-Q 12th generation driver
The KEF Uni-Q module provides clean and accurate reproduction, wide dispersion pattern, and pure, uncolored sound.
The Uni-Q transducer with MAT technology has been specially designed to achieve the perfectly clean characteristics expected from a flagship KEF speaker system. Uni-Q ensures consistently pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of volume level. The new magnet system design of the midrange driver with ultra-low distortion reduces the coefficient of nonlinear distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression, resulting in increased efficiency.
Technology of absorbing metamaterial (MAT)
The new feature in the design of The Reference Meta series acoustic systems is the use of absorption metamaterial, effectively absorbing 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT technology is truly revolutionary: thanks to the complex structure of the material used, it exhibits properties that do not exist in naturally occurring substances.
Bass of exceptional quality
The 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new 12th generation Uni-Q® array of drivers. Thoughtful engineering and meticulous attention to detail allow the bass to seamlessly blend with immaculate mid and high frequencies.
The Reference low-frequency driver also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and a very light but rigid aluminum diaphragm. As a result of all these technologies, we achieve exceptional sound volume, dynamics, and power.
Flexible and User-friendly
The Reference columns are versatile in their usage, easily adapting to your listening area with KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology. This adjustable phase inversion port reduces resonances within the port. The package includes two options for the phase inversion ports, allowing users to adjust the sound according to the size of the room. Additionally, the shape and flare of each port have been calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and sound coloration.
Revealing the Finest Details
Shadow Flare significantly reduces detrimental cabinet diffraction, enabling the Uni-Q® to perform at its highest level. The precisely designed surface expands the waveguide effect of the Uni-Q® to enhance clarity, particularly when it comes to the subtle nuances of plucked strings and other percussive sounds.
Computer-modeled enclosures
All enclosures in The Reference series are designed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and placement of bracing, minimizing secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained layer damping is applied to convert any remaining vibration into heat.
Impeccably finished
Finishing options are created by combining three different enclosure colors with five diffuser colors: walnut with a satin silver front panel and the same finish on the central driver cone; glossy white enclosure with a white front panel and a bright blue or champagne-colored driver; deep black enclosure with a 12th generation Uni-Q driver featuring a subtly dark gray cone or a contrasting copper finish.
