12th Generation Uni-Q Driver The KEF Uni-Q module provides clean and precise reproduction, wide dispersion pattern, and neutral sound. The Uni-Q driver with MAT technology is specially designed to achieve perfectly clean characteristics expected from KEF's flagship speaker system. It ensures consistently pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of the volume level. The new midrange driver magnetic system design with ultra-low distortion reduces THD in the mid-frequency range and decreases thermal compression, resulting in increased efficiency.
Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) The new feature in The Reference Meta speaker systems is the use of Metamaterial Absorption Technology, which effectively absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT technology is truly revolutionary: thanks to the complex structure of the material used, it exhibits properties not found in natural substances.
Top-Quality Bass The 6.5-inch low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new array of 12th generation Uni-Q drivers. Meticulous engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to blend seamlessly with pristine midrange and high frequencies. The Reference woofer also benefits from a massive magnetic system, large aluminum voice coil, and very light yet rigid aluminum diaphragm, resulting in excellent sound volume, dynamics, and power.
User-Friendly Design The Reference speakers are versatile in terms of placement and easily adapt to your listening area with KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology (adjustable port phase inverter). Included are two port phase inverter options that allow users to adjust the sound according to room dimensions. Additionally, the flare and shape of each port have been calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and noises that could color the sound.
Revealing Fine Details The Shadow Flare significantly reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, allowing the Uni-Q driver to perform at its highest level. The precisely engineered surface expands the Uni-Q waveguide effect to enhance clarity, especially when it comes to subtle nuances of string plucks and other percussive sounds.
Computer-Modeled Cabinets All cabinets in The Reference series are developed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and placement of braces to minimize secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained Layer Damping is applied to convert remaining vibration into heat.
Perfect Finish Finish options combine three cabinet colors with five driver grille colors: walnut with satin front panel in silver and matching center driver cone finish; glossy white cabinet with white front panel and bright blue or champagne-colored driver; deep black cabinet with 12th generation Uni-Q driver with subtly dark gray cone or copper finish.
