The 12th generation KEF Uni-Q driver
The KEF Uni-Q module provides clean and precise reproduction, a wide dispersion pattern, and a pure, uncolored sound.
The Uni-Q transducer with MAT technology has been specially designed to achieve the perfectly clean characteristics that a flagship KEF acoustic system should have. Uni-Q ensures consistently pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of the volume level. The new design of the midrange transducer's magnetic system with ultra-low distortion reduces the coefficient of nonlinear distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression, resulting in increased efficiency.
Absorbing Metamaterial Technology (MAT)
The innovation in the construction of the acoustic systems in The Reference Meta series is the use of absorbing metamaterial that effectively absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT is a truly revolutionary technology: thanks to its complex structure, the material used exhibits properties that do not exist in natural substances.
Bass of exceptional quality
The 6.5-inch (165mm) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new array of 12th generation Uni-Q® drivers. Meticulous engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to blend harmoniously with flawless mid and high frequencies.
The Reference's low-frequency driver also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and a very lightweight yet rigid aluminum diaphragm. As a result of all these technologies, we achieve outstanding sound volume, dynamics, and power.
Flexible in use
The Reference columns are versatile in terms of placement and easily adapt to your listening area with the help of KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology. This technology allows for adjustments to the phase inverted port, reducing resonances within the port. The package includes two options for the phase inverted ports, allowing users to tailor the sound according to the room size. Additionally, the flare and shape of each port have been calculated using computational hydrodynamics to avoid turbulence and distortions that could affect the sound.
Unveiling the finest details
Shadow Flare significantly reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, enabling the Uni-Q® to perform at its highest level. The precisely engineered surface expands the waveguide effect of the Uni-Q® to enhance clarity, particularly when it comes to delicate nuances of plucked strings and other percussive sounds.
Computer-modeled cabinets
All cabinets in The Reference series are designed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and placement of bracing, minimizing secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained layer damping is used to convert any remaining vibration into heat.
Exquisite finishing
Finishing options are created by combining three cabinet colors with five diffuser colors: walnut with a satin silver front panel and the same finish for the central driver cone; glossy white cabinet with a white front panel and a brightly blue or champagne colored driver; deep black cabinet color with a 12th generation Uni-Q driver in a subdued dark gray or contrasting copper finish.
