Benchmark Sound The Reference speaker systems are meant for serious audiophiles seeking the ultimate enjoyment in music listening and movie watching. Listeners will experience realistic and immersive sound with astonishing dynamics and accuracy, unveiling previously unheard details. Whether sound is reproduced through a traditional stereo pair or a multi-channel home theater system, The Reference Meta speaker sound is transparent and realistic, powerful and dynamic, with clean, rich, well-articulated bass.
Uni-Q 12th Generation Driver The KEF Uni-Q module delivers clean and precise sound reproduction, wide dispersion pattern, and uncolored sound. The Uni-Q speaker with MAT technology has been specially designed to achieve perfectly clean characteristics expected from a flagship KEF speaker system. It consistently delivers pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of volume level. The new midrange driver's magnetic system design with ultra-low distortion reduces the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression resulting in increased efficiency.
MAT Absorbent Metamaterial Technology A new addition to The Reference Meta speaker series is the use of absorbent metamaterial, effectively absorbing 99% of unwanted sounds. The MAT technology is truly revolutionary: the complex structure of the material used exhibits properties not found in naturally occurring substances.
Bass of Benchmark Quality The 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new Uni-Q® 12th generation driver array. Meticulous engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to organically blend with flawless mid and high frequencies. The Reference woofer benefits from a massive magnetic system, large aluminum voice coil, and very light yet rigid aluminum diffuser resulting in excellent sound volume, dynamics, and power.
User-Friendly Design Reference speakers are versatile in placement and easily adapt to your listening area using KEF's innovative Flexible Port Technology (adjustable phase port), capable of reducing resonances inside the port. Two different phase port options are included, allowing users to adjust the sound according to room dimensions. Additionally, the flare and shape of each port have been calculated using computational fluid dynamics to avoid turbulence and noise that can color the sound.
Revealing the Finest Details Shadow Flare significantly reduces harmful cabinet diffraction, allowing Uni-Q® to perform at its highest level. The precisely designed surface extends Uni-Q® waveguide effect to improve clarity, especially when it comes to subtle nuances of string plucks and other percussion sounds.
Computer-Modeled Cabinets All cabinets in The Reference series are developed using finite element analysis to determine the optimal shape and positioning of bracing to minimize secondary radiation from side panels. Constrained Layer Damping is used to transform remaining vibration into heat.
Exquisite Finish Finish options compiled from three cabinet colors with five diffuser colors: walnut with satin front panel in silver and matching central driver cone finish; glossy white cabinet with white front panel and bright blue or champagne-colored driver; deep black cabinet and 12th generation Uni-Q driver with a subtly dark gray cone finish or copper contrast finish.
