KEF Reference 1 Meta is a compact model from The Reference Meta series. These are bookshelf 3-way speakers designed to be placed on floor stands, delivering spacious, high-quality sound that exceeds its size capabilities.
Features:
- Absorbing Metamaterial (MAT) technology eliminates 99% of high-frequency distortions
- 12th generation Uni-Q driver with MAT technology
- Enhanced crossover design for pure signal transmission
- Optimized cabinet construction for optimal acoustic characteristics
- Finish options combining three cabinet color variants with five diffuser colors
- Floor stands S-RF1 and grills available as separate items
You don't need a large speaker to enjoy premium sound quality. The three-way design of the Reference 1 combines all the advanced innovations developed specifically for the amazing little LS50.
The combination of the latest enhanced 125mm Uni-Q driver module and the sensational new 165mm bass driver with an aluminum diffuser creates a mesmerizingly realistic soundstage unexpected from a system of such relatively modest dimensions.
Whether installed on shelves or stands, the KEF Reference 1, thanks to the consistently wide and flat dispersion characteristics that distinguish the famous Uni-Q technology, also makes for an ideal surround channel for a home theater system that will surely touch your heart.
Standard Sound
The Reference acoustic systems are designed for serious audiophiles who strive for the highest enjoyment of music and movie-watching. Listeners will experience realistic and immersive sound with stunning dynamics and a level of authenticity that reveals previously unheard details. Whether the sound is reproduced through a traditional stereo pair or a multi-channel home theater, it doesn't matter.
The sound of The Reference Meta acoustic systems is transparent and realistic, powerful and dynamic, with clean, rich, well-articulated bass.
Uni-Q 12th generation driver
The KEF Uni-Q driver module provides clean and precise reproduction, wide dispersion pattern, and pure, uncolored sound.
The Uni-Q driver with MAT technology has been specifically designed to achieve the ideal clean characteristics that a flagship KEF speaker system should have. The Uni-Q driver consistently delivers pleasant, clear, and lyrical high frequencies regardless of the volume level. The new low distortion magnetic system design for the midrange driver reduces the coefficient of nonlinear distortion (THD) in the mid-frequency range and reduces thermal compression, resulting in improved efficiency. The Reference Meta series of acoustic systems introduces a new technology called MAT (Metamaterial Absorbing Technology), which effectively absorbs 99% of unwanted sounds. MAT is truly revolutionary, as the complex structure of the material used possesses properties that do not exist in natural substances.
The 165mm (6.5-inch) low-frequency driver of the Reference model perfectly complements the new generation Uni-Q array of drivers. Meticulous engineering and attention to detail allow the bass to harmoniously blend with impeccable mid and high frequencies.
The Reference low-frequency driver also benefits from a massive magnetic system, a large aluminum voice coil, and an incredibly lightweight yet rigid aluminum diaphragm. All of these technologies result in superior sound volume, dynamics, and power.
Easy to use
The Reference columns are flexible in their use and easily adapt to your listening area thanks to KEF's innovative technology - Flexible Port Technology (adjustable phase inverters), which can reduce resonances inside the port. Two options for phase inverters are included in the package, allowing users to adjust the sound according to the size of the room. In addition, the shape and flare of each port have been calculated using computational fluid dynamics to avoid turbulence and noises that can color the sound.
Revealing the finest details
Shadow Flare significantly reduces the harmful diffraction of the enclosure, allowing the Uni-Q to operate at the highest level. The precisely engineered surface extends the wave-guiding effect of Uni-Q to improve clarity, especially when it comes to subtle nuances of plucked strings and other percussion sounds.
Computer-modeled cabinets
All cabinets in The Reference series are designed using finite element analysis to determine the ideal shape and placement of bracing to minimize secondary radiation from the side walls. Constrained Layer Damping is applied to convert any remaining vibration into heat.
Perfected Finishing
The finishing options have been created by combining three variations of cabinet colors with five diffuser colors. These include a walnut cabinet with a satin front panel in silver, and the same finishing on the central speaker cone; a glossy white cabinet with a white front panel and a bright blue or champagne-colored speaker; and a deep black cabinet with a 12th generation Uni-Q driver featuring a subtly dark gray or contrasting copper-colored cone.
