The KEF Q3 Meta speaker system is equipped with a combined Uni-Q 12th generation driver. Several important design changes have been made to further enhance the sound quality. The 25mm tweeter with an aluminum dome is loaded onto a Tangerine waveguide, aligning its directivity pattern and eliminating phase distortion. On the back of the tweeter, a sound-absorbing MAT element is installed - one of the key upgrades in the new generation Uni-Q drivers. The thin MAT element maintains the driver's compact design while effectively dissipating sound waves from the back of the tweeter dome. This solution has given the speaker clear and detailed sound at high frequencies.
Features:
- MAT metamaterial absorption technology capable of absorbing 99% of unwanted noises behind the driver.
- 12th generation Uni-Q distributes sound more evenly.
- Hybrid aluminum bass drivers with extended excursion.
- Sophisticated crossover: 2.1 kHz.
- Tweeter: 25mm aluminum dome, MAT, Uni-Q.
- Mid/Bass: 165mm aluminum, Uni-Q.
The KEF Q3 Meta bookshelf speakers have larger dimensions than the junior model in the series and are capable of providing quality sound in medium-sized rooms. The model features an elegant European design with high-quality finish and will look great in any interior. The KEF Q3 Meta is available in white, black, or walnut finishes, offering ample choice to seamlessly blend into modern decor.
The speakers are equipped with the trademark Uni-Q combined driver, first introduced by the company in 1988. Over the years, its construction has undergone numerous changes and improvements aimed at further enhancing sound quality. The current Uni-Q driver in the KEF Q3 Meta represents the latest audio technologies. The bass driver and tweeter, aligned on one axis, are equipped with an efficient electromagnetic system and precisely matched to each other. Both drivers are positioned to balance their overall sound across the entire frequency range and eliminate phase distortions. The drivers are connected through a crossover filter tuned at 2.0 kHz.
The speaker's bass driver has a diameter of 165mm, allowing it to reproduce deep and rich low frequencies. The driver's aluminum diaphragm is mounted on a wide elastic surround. The diaphragm features cross ribs to increase its rigidity and dampen unwanted vibrations. The tweeter, located in the center of the bass driver, has special acoustic separators serving as waveguides. The 25mm aluminum dome tweeter complements the overall design.
The KEF Q3 Meta features the signature CFD phase inverter, designed to smoothly direct airflow without turbulence or noise. The dampened speaker cabinets do not vibrate or color the sound even at high music playback volumes. The protective grilles have invisible magnetic holders that securely keep them in place.
