The KEF Q11 Meta model is the flagship of its series and offers the most powerful and rich sound. These large floor-standing speakers easily handle high-quality sound for a large living room, stereo system, or home theater. Despite their size, the speakers do not look bulky due to the well-proportioned cabinet. Additionally, the supports extending beyond the bottom panel and installed on fairly tall spikes also visually enhance the elegance of the speakers. The external matte finish of the model can be black, white, or walnut.
Features:
- 19mm tweeter with an aluminum dome membrane, placed in the center of the bass driver (Uni-Q);
- Uni-Q 12th generation driver provides exceptional acoustic accuracy;
- 100mm mid-range/woofer with an aluminum diaphragm (Uni-Q);
- 165mm woofer with an aluminum diaphragm;
- 2 x 165mm passive radiators with aluminum diaphragms;
- Amplifier power: 50 - 225 Watts;
- Crossover: 480Hz, 2.7kHz.
The KEF Q11 Meta speaker system is equipped with a combined Uni-Q 12th generation driver. Several important design changes have been made to further enhance the sound quality. The 19mm tweeter with an aluminum dome is loaded with a Tangerine waveguide, aligning its directivity pattern and eliminating phase distortions. On the back of the tweeter, a sound-absorbing MAT element is installed - one of the key updates made to the new generation Uni-Q drivers. The thin MAT element maintains a compact driver design while effectively dissipating sound waves from the back of the tweeter dome, resulting in transparent and detailed high-frequency sound.
The 10cm diaphragm of the mid-range driver in the Uni-Q system features longitudinal stiffening ribs to eliminate resonances. The driver's surround is angled for uniform propagation of sound waves without distortions that may arise from reflections off the front panel. The low-frequency driver in the KEF Q11 Meta is equipped with an aluminum diaphragm with special ribs for increased stiffness. The tweeter also has an aluminum diaphragm with petal-shaped acoustic cutouts. Both drivers are mounted on a common chassis, and their magnetic systems are precisely matched.
Below are three 165mm bass drivers that look identical outwardly. In reality, the "true" woofer is in the center of this trio. Passive ABR bass radiators are positioned above and below it. This speaker design offers advantages in terms of bass detail and depth compared to traditional bass reflex systems. However, due to its complexity, this solution is rarely used in speakers within an affordable price range. All drivers have neat edging.
To ensure the speaker cabinet does not vibrate or color the sound even at high volumes, it is reinforced with internal bracing. Additionally, partitions are used to separate the upper section with the Uni-Q driver and create a working volume for the low-frequency drivers. The KEF Q11 Meta speakers are equipped with a high-quality crossover filter consisting of premium components. The crossover tuning minimizes frequency and phase distortions, resulting in balanced and musical sound reproduction.
